2. The Brother

An hour. I've been gazing at the door bell for an hour now but I still can't find the courage to press it. Qenna, just do it! After scolding myself, I panicked and thoughtlessly pressed the doorbell out of jitters. A few minutes later, a beautiful woman in her thirties opened the gate. She was smiling at me but I can't reciprocate it with a smile. Out of crazy reason, bigla nalang akong naiyak.

"Hija? What is wrong? How—how can I help you?"

Without restraints, I ran to her open arms and cried. Iyak lang ako ng iyak hanggang sa marealize ko na nakapasok na pala ako ng bahay nila. I really can't stop my tears. I did not plan to act up this much pero para talagang gusto ng mga luha kong umagos.

"Oh no," I gasped when I realized I've been crying like crazy on someone's shoulders. This woman just met me like minutes ago!

Qenna, she's not just some woman! From the looks of it, she is definitely Raven's mother!

"Tita, I'm sorry," pagpapaumanhin ko agad at saka nagmamadaling tumayo. I don't think kaya ko'ng magsinungaling at manloko. I have to go home. "I'm sorry, nadala lang po ako ng emosyon—"

Hindi ko natapos ang sasabihin ko dahil nalaglag ang pregnancy test na hawak-hawak ko. I forgot I've had it in my hand.

'Yong babae pa mismo ang pumulot ng tester. She stared at it for seconds before she faced me. Halata sa mga mata niya ang gulat pero samo't sari ang emosyong nandon.

"Is this— Um... Hija, is it Mavvy's? Raven's?" tanong niya na namumutla na ngayon. Her hands were shaking too!

"I'm sorry po. Kailangan ko na pong umalis,"sagot kong umiiwas ng tingin sa kanya. I feel so guilty and embarrassed. I just really wanted to disappear at that moment.

Ngunit nahawakan niya ang braso ko kaya hindi ako tuluyang nakaalis. I was so scared. Magbaback-out na ako dapat e. Ba't ganito?

"You're staying," maotoridad na deklara ng babae. Gusto kong umiyak ulit. "I'll call my sons. Is it Mavvy's?"

"N—no. I didn't know Raven has a brother."

"He's kind of a...,"she paused and chuckled. "Medyo pasaway," dugtong niya, nakangiti na this time. She looked at me intentionally and curled her lips to form a smile. "So, it's Raven's then." Tumango-tango siya. Her face revealed how hard it is for her to take in the information she just knew. "Stay here for a while. I'll make a call."

Tita has left the room for like twenty minutes ago. Was it that long already? Sometimes, I exaggerate things; that's my talent anyway. But it's like she's gone long enough really.

Tatayo na sana ako para umalis na nang dumating ang isang lalaking sobrang familiar sa'kin. Where did I see this guy? I am so sure I met him somewhere. Maybe, in school—I am not sure but why the hell do I care? Right? Tsk. Whatever.

"Woah. Dolly, hi! What a surprise!"a masculine guy chirped who just appeared from nowhere, sounding very cheerful.

His hair is long, almost touching his broad shoulders. His body and facial features resembled that of Ashton Kutcher. Shocks, why am I looking in scrutiny at his features? He's not even good-looking. Duh.

"Excuse me?" I exclaimed in annoyance with the thought of him talking to me. I don't even know him!
