Virgil POV

My head hurt, bad as soon as I sat up. I touch my head gently and felt dried blood, along with finding myself on the roof of Logan and I's house. Oh yeah....

Flashback

I sat on my bed with my sketchpad and Panic! At the Disco on as loud as I could. I had my wings splayed lazily around me.

I hummed along to the familiar tunes of my music playing in my ears. While I was doodling things I had seen throughout the day, I hadn't noticed Logan coming in to announce that dinner was ready.

I go to stretch and I see my older brother, out of the corner of my eye, standing in the doorway. He had a scowl on his face and, if looks could kill, I'd be dead.

"Logan!" I screeched noticing he was there, I adjusted myself, my sketchbook falling to the ground.

"I told you, you can NOT have those things out!" My brother cried out, gesturing to the massive objects on my back.

"They're not things, Logan. They are MY wings," I hated when he called them things, they really aren't. But my dumb ass of a brother doesn't realize that ,"They are the same as mom's!"

Logan's facial expression changed. It quickly changed from angered annoyance to deadly fury in miliseconds. I hit a nerve in him,"L-logan I-I did-dn't-"

"Shut it."

"Logan I-"

"I SAID SHUT IT!" he screamed. I flinched away from him. Logan rarely yells at people nor does he get extremely angry. I fortunately I just made him both, mainly directed at me.

"You think your SO special with your wings! Like-like your some kind of god! I hate it," he huffed.

"I don't think tha-"

"NO! When I am talking YOU OBEY and YOU LISTEN!" I shrunk even more, if that was possible. "I am sick of seeing those monstrosities on your back! Why can't you just GO!?"

Tears formed in my eyes. Pure anger surged through Logan, and if that wasn't anger I don't know what is. I know what he was saying was from blind rage, but that doesnt soothe the sting. "Fine. You want me to go, I'll go!" I hissed at my fuming older brother. In anger and pain I slammed open my window and dropped out.

"VIRGIL!" I heard him scream. I shot up into the air my wings free and open. It felt amazing to have the air in my feathers. I fly up into the cool air and land on our roof. I settle there and tuck my wings behind me. I knew Logan never liked to go up here, so this was a good place to stay. I layed back and looked up at the sky. The sun was setting and the world above me was a group of perfectly blended colors. Wispy clouds scattered throughout the painted sky.

I rolled over and hit my head on the AC generation our home. I flinch back and see the small amount of blood on my fingers. Great I'm bleeding.

I let myself calm down and eventually I just lie down on the roof. Sleep takes over me within a few minutes.

End Flashback..........

I shivered at the chilly feeling of the air. It was cold up here and I regret not grabbing something to keep me warmer than what my jacket could provide. I shed a few tears at the thought of last night. I didn't want to go back inside quite yet.

I watched as the sun raised over the land before me. Pinks, reds, oranges, and some yellows filled the sky. I sat there is silence the peaceful feeling was somewhat relaxing.

As I sat there I noticed a dark figure in the distance. From the body shape of the shadow, I could tell it was a guy. He was on a flat rooftop a few houses down flapping his arms dramatically. I wanted to see what the person was doing so I cautiously flew a few houses closer, attempting to be invisible. I folded my wings behind me and tucked them.into my jacket so they were out of sight. I was able to get a closer look at the figure.

Roman. It was Roman. He was acting out seen from the musical Hamilton. I smiled, it was amusing. I noticed he began to sing the beginning of Non-Stop.

"After the war I went back to New York~" he sang perfectly. His voice slid like butter into my ears.

"A-after the war I went back to New York~" I sang with him, not realizing what danger this could put me in. Roman froze and looked around. I quickly ducked behind the chimney on the roof in hopes of not being discovered.

Roman brushed the situation off. "I finished up my studies and I practiced law~"

There was a pause, as if he was waiting for me to sing the next part.

"I practiced law Burr worked next door~" I finally sang, giving in to the temptation. Roman spun around and before I could react, he saw me.

"Virgil?"

"H-hi," I squeaked to my secret crush.

He chuckled, resting all his weight on one leg, hands on his hips. Could that be any hotter? "I didn't know you could sing!" He smiled at me and moved closer. I wrapped my arms around myself, obviously embarrassed. He went to speak more but, I flinched back and tensed. "You okay?"

I pulled away and scooted from him,"Fine." I looked at the senior before me. I wasn't 'fine', and I had a feel he could tell. His emerald eyes bore into mine, even though the rest of tried to call down, my heart wouldn't stop racing. He let the little situation go.

"Why are you here anyway? On my roof, I mean?"

"Oh. Um I just...um," I struggled for words on how to explain.

"No need to lie, Virgil. You can trust me."

"I got in a fight with my brother and needed time alone." I finally admitted.

"I'm sorry. Is there anything I can do?," Roman  comforted me.

"Not really."

"Well, if you do I'm wide open!" he gave me one of his signature smiles and patted my back. I flinched again as he hit my sensitive wings. I brushed it off as.if nothing happened.

The two if us sat in a comfortable silence. The sun was rising higher into the sky and bringing the world it's light.

My gaze turned to Roman. He looked calm and at peace. he had a slight blush covering his olive skin. It took me by surprise but I kept quiet. A soft wind blew and I still watched the energetic person beside me. I smiled as his forest of hair that blew softly with the wind.

As I stared at him I noticed his bright eyes meeting mine. A dark rose fell on my face as I quickly looked away. Roman awkwardly coughed,"You should probably head back to Logan, he's most likely stressing about where you are, Virgil."

I let out a small laugh,"Nah, he wouldn't care that I'm gone. Big bro hates me right now,"

"What!? Why would he hate you? Your smart, funny, and fun to hang around and not to mention ho-" I freeze. What the hell is he saying? It is sweet but......what? I shake my head and refresh. He continues,"I-I mean your a good guy. Who would-"

"Roman. You're rambling."

"Sorry," the red head mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck in a nervous gesture.

"Look. Logan hates me because I'm the reason-," I paused as I choked back tears,"-the reason mom is dead." Why am I telling him all this!? What can be so for me anyway?

I looked at Roman. He gave me a look of confusion,"What do you mean? I don't unders-"

I stood up and began to walk off,"But I probably should head back. Bye Roman!" I didn't want this conversation to continue, fearing I could tell a secret I would regret later on.

"Hey-" But I was gone. I heard Roman groan from behind me,"-wait." I ran my hand through my purple hair and looked up at the sky. What does he have to me feel this way!?
