Chapter Eleven.

“Welcome home, parents!”

I’m scared. Not because of River, we have a big family. Enough of us around to bring up a little boy.

I’m scared of the world that we live in. There’s a lot of dangerous people in the world, everyone knows it and everyone goes through it. But we don’t just live with the fear every day, because that’s life. You go through day to day, not worrying about what could happen at any given time.

But us, our family. We are the danger. We bring danger to our door every day, and I don’t think I could live with myself if anything happened to River, because it would be my fault.

“Pee?” “Yeah?” I snapped out of my thoughts, looking away from River and to Justin “Are you ok? I said your name like four times” Justin was beside me, sorting through everything “Yeah sorry, just thinking” “Don’t do that” Justin says, placing a light kiss on my lips before taking River out of my arms and putting him in his carry seat.

“Ready to go home and play mommy and daddy?” Justin asked, a bag over his shoulder carrying River in his other hand. I stood up and looked at him “We’re not playing though are we?” Justin didn’t say anything, just looking at me for a while.

So I put on a smile and walked towards him “Sorry, let’s go” I replied, walking past him and out of the door.

“What the fuck? Have they got the whole street to come and welcome us home?” I asked, undoing my seatbelt and looking at the number of cars in our driveway “Looks like we have company” Justin said. Stepping out of the car “No shit” I replied, walking towards the front door.

“It’s fine, I’ll manage” Justin shouted from the car. I turned around and bit my lip, holding back a smile “Sorry, I forgot” I said, shrugging. Justin walked up the steps so he was now beside me, kissed me on the lips before knocking on the door with his foot “Lucky I love you” he mumbled, loud enough for me to hear.

“Welcome home, parents!” Chaz said, way too enthusiastically “What’s with all the cars?” I asked, walking past him “Morning Chaz, how are you? You know what Pia I’m so good right now. Thanks for asking!” Chaz sarcastically spoke to himself, I flipped him off without turning around again “Go easy on her man” Justin said quietly, their conversation slowly going silent as I walk through the house to the back garden.

“Holy fucking SHIT!” I shouted, seeing the group of guys in front of me. Rio turned around first, followed by the others “Hola princessa” I ran up to him, ignoring the pain in my lower region and jumping into his arms, he caught me and held onto me tightly “What the fuck are you doing here?” I asked after a few seconds, a lump getting caught in my throat “Tate said he’d told you we were coming?” Rio ask, his accent as thick as always. I was thinking it over for a while “Oh yeah, guess I lost track of time” “Days more like” Johnny interfered, I jumped down from Rio and hugged Johnny “Let me guess, baby brain?” He asked as we pulled away, I nodded. Looking at the other three. Harry, Chris and Ed. I hugged them all, before Justin walked out with River in his arms “Guys, this is Justin and River” I said, slowly walking over to Tate as Justin said hi to the guys. I pulled Tate away from the group and kept my voice low “Has Matt been around yet?” I asked, Tate shook his head “He called wanting to meet River and check on you. I told him to come over later once we’ve spoke about a few things” I nodded, walking back over to the group.

“So I’m guessing this is how you know Spanish?” I nodded, looking at Rio “Sí, Rio enseñó cuando yo estaba de vuelta en Inglaterra” I replied, laughing at Justin’s face “Huh?” He asked, looking between Rio and I “Rio taught me when I was back in England” I translated “It was a good distraction for her” Rio whispered to Justin, but I heard anyway.
