I sighed, heavily, collapsing onto my bed, again. I had chosen the left-most one, being unable to sleep, the moon's rays shining on my face on any of the other beds.
It was around midnight, I guessed. The day had gone by rather quickly, and I knew I was asleep. However, I just couldn't.
And I wasn't the only one.
Lucy twisted in her bed, the one next to mine - as Gray had claimed the one next to Erza's, claiming she needed a chaperone - and faced me.
I closed my eyes too late; she had seen me.
"Jellal?" she tentatively whispered, "You're not asleep, give it up."
I sighed, "You're going to wake the other two up."
"Other two?" Lucy questioned, her voice rising at the end, signifying her question, "What d'you mean? It's only Gray, here."
"Huh?" I gulped, hoping I hadn't woken Gray up by my outburst, "There's also Erza, did you forget?"
Lucy sighed, "She left ages ago. I guess you did doze off," Lucy sounded suspicious, "She's not very friendly, I want to know why."
I snorted, and Gray suddenly snored incredibly loudly. Lucy's brown eyes sparkled with amusement, and I stifled a laugh, "That's easy. She hasn't been socialized, she doesn't have siblings, and she's a pure-blood - a royal pure-blood."
I caught Lucy rolling her eyes, "All pure-bloods are somewhat royalty, but I get what you mean... she's the Vampire Kingdom heir."
"Yeah," I sighed wistfully, "I'm going."
I threw off my covers and slipped my feet into slippers that were placed next to my bed. Lucy gasped, "What?!"
"C' mon, don't you want to know where she is?" I raised my eyebrows, "If we're going to have to stay in this stupid place for some kind of 'prophecy', we should at least know where our 'protector' is."
Lucy bit her lip but followed me. As quietly as we could, we shut the door and ventured into the dark hallways of the castle.
"Oh, look." Lucy muttered, "A gargoyle."
I hadn't noticed it on the way to our room, it seemed new. Polished even. Which was incredibly suspicious. No one was in the halls that we passed, except for a couple of paintings that seemed to be watching us.
Cool Castle Vampires got here.
"What d'you think 'bonding' means?" Lucy attempted to spark a conversation, turning my mood off, "I mean, we do need to figure this prophecy thing out."
