"What- what d'you mean?" Natsu looked shell-shocked; the colour drained from his face, and the two brothers looked related more than they ever had before.
Zeref smiled, his cloak waving in the light wind. Erza appeared next to me, still rigid from suspicion.
"This fight," a second figure stepped out from the legion of wolves, her hair contrasting the ash of Zeref's silhouette, "Is more than getting your Kingdom back," the voice continued, before tsking and shaking her head.
"No, no. It is about getting your Kingdom back. Back to the way it used to be." Mavis swept her silky-blonde hair behind an ear, stepping in parallel to the leader of the wolves, "Before Acnologia broke apart all of us, all of our friends and family."
I pursed my lips, a wave of emotion flooding through me. A couple of months back, I would've never imagined myself in this situation.
For Kami's sake, I was in high school, preparing to do a friendly high-school exchange.

"Please," Mavis's eyes were full of courage, the same look of heroism I had seen in the Vampire Kingdom before this tyranny, and before the awful murder, "you guys won't be enough on your own. Together we're all stronger."
Natsu burst into a grin, his teeth glittering in the light. I had honestly thought he'd reflect some of Erza's suspicion, but it seems like he believed them.
I mean who wouldn't? We desperately needed help.
"Come here you." Natsu growled, gesturing towards Zeref to hug him. The dark-cloaked man shook his sad, remorseful.
"I- I can't," he took a step back. The wolves behind him let out a low growl, which he silenced with a wave of his hand. The uneasiness in the clearing was back, "I can't put you in any more danger, brother. We need all the luck we've got, tonight."
Natsu opened his mouth, very perplexed, before letting his arms drop to his side. A disappointed look flashed in his eyes, but was quickly replaced by the cocky grin he had moments before, "Well then, you owe me one after we burn that little cockroach."
I spluttered, furrowing my eyebrows and wanting to slap Natsu. Was now really the best time to be name-calling.

Erza stepped forward, and Lucy followed suit. Zeref nodded his head in respect, while Mavis beamed, "Erza Belserion," she piped up, "Do you accept?"
She shook her head, scarlet fringe framing her face. All I wanted to do was to protect her. As dumb as it was, as she could, y'know...
Kick your ass?
Hah.
"You don't accept offers from your friends," She bowed, "You fight alongside them."
Mavis seemed incredibly pleased, jumping onto her toes and giving Erza an enormous hug. The scarlet vampire was slightly taken aback by the overly affectionate gesture, but returned it quickly, a smile spreading across her lips.
"There is one thing we have to talk about, though." Zeref said gravely, shooting Erza a stern look, "The prophecy, it-"
"Nevermind the prophecy now," the coldness seeped back into Erza's voice, as she stepped away from Mavis's embrace and closer to my side. I took her hand, furrowing my eyebrows as I noticed that her fingers were shaking.
"We need to move quickly," she said, squeezing my hand back in reassurance, "For Fairy Tail."
"For Fairy tail!" I repeated this for the second time this night. However this time, it sounded more like a warning.
A/N: wELL... 5 months later *hides in shame*. I do think I'm back for good this time though, half a year really does help in getting your writing inspo back.
