"You came back,"

Clementine falls into his arms. He throws the chair leg to the side. Letting it collide against the grassy earth—Enveloping the small girl into his chest, his heart thudding at the feeling of her in his arms again.

"I must be crazy," he breathes into the shoulder of her denim coat, eyes shut tight. The scent of gunpowder on her skin. "Are you alright?"

Louis steps back, brushing firmly along her arms for good measure. Her eyes were glossed over as she met his briefly; a smile on her face.

"Louis!" AJ bellows, wiggling between the two. Wrapping his short arms around the tall boy's waist.

"That was awesome," his kiddish voice heightens, Louis chuckles. Stepping aside from his secret lover to the decapitated walker. He winks at the short boy.

"Gotta thank Chairles," Louis grins solemnly, shuffling to the bloodied hunk of wood—Crouching down he grabs it, grimacing at the skin attached. Examining it in the scant sunlight.

"I missed you Louis," AJ trails behind the taller boy, Clementine stood back. Body cooling down from the sudden incident.

She smiles, wide and careless as Louis crouches down to accept AJ's heartfelt hug—Clementine hadn't realized until now, just how much AJ loved the goofy pianist.

AJ circles is arms around Louis's broad shoulders, the freckled boy's hands at AJ's back. The small child's eyes were as bright at the spotty light casting over.

Louis huffs, brushing his knees of dirt and damp mud. He claps his hands of it too.

Standing tall. He nods as AJ offers him his trusty chair leg. He hovers it along his right shoulder, making him look like the most ridiculous of warriors.

"Well,"

He raises a brow highly at the girl still in the brush of wilted flowers. Their eyes locking as a skittish smirk appears.

"Looks like team fun is back in business,"

...

As the days went by. And by Clementine's spotty calculation, they'd been on the road for a predictable eight days.

Eight days of survival. Fishing, hunting—Scavenging for odd berries they'd come across. It was short of easy and too say Louis was holding up well, would be an understatement.

The sky was void of clouds this night—showcasing the serene twinkling stars. They kissed the faces of the two teens below, gazing along their makeshift blanket.

With Louis's sudden decision, he hadn't the chance to pack properly—So they shared his duct taped coat, the crackle of the low bonfire before them kept them awake.

"It makes things feel normal, huh?" Louis whispers, his warm breath defrosting the icy air. Clementine turns to her right, the stars in his eyes as he spoke softly again.

"The stars, they're the only normal thing left."

Clementine purses her lips, brows falling at his quite sad words. She watches as his nose wrinkles coldly—His jaw stretching in a yawn.
