...

She couldn't think in a straight line.

All Clementine could see when her eyes shut to sleep were Sophie's lips on Louis. Kissing him, touching him, the way she does.

The image haunted her. As much as she tried to give in to the arms of exhaust—she couldn't without seeing another woman on Louis.

This was so unlike her. To worry so much over something other than survival. Which was her initial fear getting into it with Louis—looking at how things are now. It was far too late to back out.

Despite her mind blaring obscenity—she was quickly reminded that she loved Louis; furthermore, her skin still burned.

It lingered when they were done. The places he kissed left invisible marks; making her angry now. She didn't want the reminder right now.

She rolls onto her side, looking at AJ. He was snoring soundly. Unaware of her presence. At the sight of him she felt somewhat better, a smile forms. She reaches to fix the blanket on his shoulders. Making him stir in his sleep, he turns, back facing her now.

Clementine returns to laying on her back now, staring at the ceiling fan. She was so tired, physically. But her mind was wide awake.
...

"Morning Louis!" AJ chimes at the small dining table, eating oatmeal from a chipped bowl—he ate messily, getting the oats to sprinkle his face. Unbothered, AJ speaks again. "You look tired,"

That's because he was. Louis hadn't slept until the recent hours before the clanging of pots woke him to the bleary sun's wafting light. Reminding him that he'd slept alone.

Louis offers a smile to the young boy, resting a hand on his shoulder. "Did you sleep okay?" Louis ignores AJ's statement, smiling again when AJ nods.

Clementine walks into the dining area, which was divided by the living area. Her eyes absently meet his and she gives him the cold look, a skill he'd never master. Especially when it came to her.

The ghost of a smile passes his lips, watching her set a bowl on the table. "I have an appointment today," she says. Looking at both him and AJ separately. Except she smiles at the little boy—"I think Javi mentioned that he wanted to take you to the stables to meet the animals,"

AJ grins and gets excited. Leaving Louis out of the loop, in the silence he felt; there was a dull pounding in his head. Reminding him of the night's drinking.

Clementine turns her attention from AJ to Louis, hands on the table. Her hair was tied back again, her hat on and her usual attire on her back—"And you have to go along with me, we're leaving soon so get dressed and eat,"

She says all at once. Barely looking at him as she pushes the blue bowl along the table toward him.

Louis sighs to himself. This wasn't going to be an easy wall to break.
...

AJ leaves with Javier. Who kept apologizing to Clementine. She wasn't mad anymore, especially comparing to her feelings toward Louis now.

"Just go and have fun," Clementine tells him, giving AJ a hug before their venture—she watches down the street corner of the hotel as Javier leads AJ down.
