"You're pregnant?" Javier had asked this three times already and each time Clementine's voice raised.

The two had decided it was best to present their situation at hand with the man. Sooner than later. Javier didn't seem to fully believe it until Clementine revealed the proof which left the grown man wide eyed. Stumbling over his words. Eyes squinting at the plastic stick. Mouth moving with no words other than a few foreign curses.

She stood center  in the quiet courtyard; where the grown man had decided to take watch for the night. He and Gabe, who was soundly asleep somewhere in the school—were taking turns.

"For the last time," Clementine sighs, hands on her hips. Brows low. "Yes,"

Louis had his arms crossed. Glancing to both of them; their equally nervous faces drowned out by the dark night. The only light being the moon above.

Javier lets out a deep breath, searching her face. He then turns to Louis, finally piecing the puzzles—"You two...?"

Louis nods awkwardly as both eyes fall on him. He offers a smirk. Shrugging the shoulder that wasn't wounded, he'd switched into an old jersey—giving his pained shoulder room to breathe.

It felt like he was admitting to a crime.

Javier's eyes widen slightly, wearing a slight grimace as he glances back to Clementine before him. Wearing a look he tried to sympathize with. Shuffling on his feet he lets out a rumble of a laugh—"After all that's happened the passed week," he shakes his head at the girl. "This has to take the damn cake,"

The grown man pats her back. Seeing her quivering mouth and pulling her into a tight hug. Tucking her into his chest, his winter coat cooled her heated cheek; tears began flooding behind her eyes and a lump forms at her throat. "It'll be okay, I promise," Javier squeezes her.

"Then you'll take us back with you?" Louis intervenes, brown eyes halved; in the light provided he looked far more sullen than intended in his question—"The school has nothing for her..or the baby," Louis's jaw tenses as he finishes his sentence. "If you can only take her and AJ that's fine," He began to speak upon his nerves that rattled his mind and tongue; making him stutter.

"Louis," Javier smiles warmly. Letting Clementine go, shaking his head in dismissal. His graying brunette bangs move with his head tilt. Grasping the boy's intact shoulder, making him shush. "If there's one thing I know at all..is that a parent needs to be there," he says. "For everything." Javier nods once, looking Louis in the eyes. "I wouldn't take that away from you,"

...

The next morning was foggy, cold and dark; Clementine had awoken to the pink and purple sky outside Louis's window. She took the time to admire it as she sat at the edge of the bed. She hadn't slept much; her mind wouldn't let her. And when she did she was forced awake with nausea and a stinging headache. A constant reminder.

She turns in the bed, laying now. Seeing Louis and AJ bundled in the blanket, both boys cuddled into one another facing the wall; the sight made her smile. Clementine leans in kissing AJ's cheek. He smiles in Louis's chest, in which Louis moves, feeling the girl's wake behind him.
