The waitress never returned to the table, and you were able to begin to enjoy your meal in peace, letting your tension be drowned by the warm noodles and delicious broth that washed down your throat. Such a heavenly mixture of flavors that soothed the raging beast inside your stomach.
Taehyung had finally begun to eat as well, though it seemed he didn't wish to continue the rest of your meal in silence. You kept your eyes down, placing them anywhere but his face after that little outburst you had just given to your waitress. But you could see his milk chocolate eyes grazing your face every so often as if he was trying to find the words to start up a conversation.
"So, what did you do today?" He asked, trying to keep his tone casual and light. A slurp of noodles chased his words.
"Just stayed at home, I read." You idly replied as you snagged one of the napkins from the side of the table and dabbed at your lips.
"So, you had a good day?" He questioned, a tilt to his head as he held his next bite up in front of his lips but kept his obsidian gaze locked on you.
"I guess..." You breathed out slowly. The image of your mother crying, standing in the doorway to the kitchen flashed back to your memory and you could feel a ping of guilt strike deep.
"You guess?" He quickly followed back with. "Did something happen?" He added, letting his chopsticks lower back down to his bowl as he offered you up his attention.
"It's just...family stuff." You shrugged your shoulders lightly, moving your gaze once more towards the fogged window. You anchored your attention on that little figure that Taehyung had drawn on the glass.
"What happened?" He prodded on as his gaze became more fixated on you, his lids falling half closed. He hung on your words. Likely he knew what he was doing, he was being a bit on the pushy side but that didn't stop him. His concern outweighed his doubt.
You let your lungs deflate as you released a low breath, remaining silent as you tried to decide if it was something you wanted to talk about or not. You weren't really one to get into deep subjects with people you barely knew, but you were also painfully aware at how stubborn Taehyung could be if he became worried, even only having been around him a few days you knew this fact for certain.
"Well, I told you that my dad and I are at a disagreement as to what college I should attend." You started, deciding you could explain at least a little bit to calm his fret.
"Yeah?" He pushed away his bowl to free up a bit of space for his arms to fold atop the smooth wooden surface.
"Well, I haven't spoken to him since our fight...I guess because of that, it's started to take a toll on my mom. She seems pretty upset that we've been giving each other the silent treatment."
"Did you two talk about it?"
"Not really, this is just me guessing." You shifted your eyes from the glass back to him. Though you weren't intending to, your own guilt was shining through those hues of yours. "I went to the kitchen this morning to get some tea and she walked in on me and started crying, but before I could do anything she walked off so--" Your words cut off as you threw your eyes down to the table.
"Oh..." You heard him whisper.
"Yeah, she tends to feel things pretty deeply. Gets hurt easily. Which makes me question how she could even be with such a stone cold man like my father but...it's just because she cares so much I guess." You were speaking so freely now, your reserve seeming to diminish, but why?
"So, what do you plan to do?" He asked softly as he leaned closer towards the center of the table, putting more weight onto his folded arms.
"I'm not sure. I left her alone for a while and planned to go talk to her when she had calmed down. But by the time I came back out of my room, she had left." Your lips tightened together in a firm line as your gaze darted around. Though you were freely offering up information about your life without being pressured, part of you still felt uneasy. "My dad and I might be at odds right now, but it's temporary, it always is. One of us will cave and let the other get what they want and the issue will just disappear like it always does. It's just taking longer this time because I don't want to back down and give up on what I want. Though, I don't like seeing my mom suffer because of it. She just wants us both to be happy, she's probably blaming it on herself that she can't fix this."
