It didn't take long for Tae to catch up to you outside. He met your side soon and you quickly distracted yourself from the ground and brought your focus to him. Thankfully he didn't seem to notice your eyes that had been locked on the wet earth and seemed to pay the little detail no mind. You were glad as you grabbed a hold of his hand without a second of hesitation and began to walk with him back to the street and wander along the sidewalk.
"Where do you wanna stay tonight?" He asked, your clasped hands swinging between the two of you as if you were both about to take off skipping down the side of the road. "I hear this one hotel in Finland has rooms with glass roofing and you can lay in bed and watch the Northern Lights. How about that?" His charming smile adorned his lips as he smiled down at you, clearly pleased with his spur of the moment idea.
Where on earth did he possibly hear about such a hotel? He couldn't have been looking for unique places just for you lately, could he? The idea of him browsing the web or looking through brochures just to find a place to impress you was a humorous and adorable image in your mind. You couldn't help but return his smile.
"In a bit." You nodded your head as your bangs bounced against your forehead. "I just kinda wanna enjoy this late night walk for a little longer." You squeezed his hand a little tighter. "Okay?"
His bright smile calmed to that of a more content grin. He tightened his jaw as he bobbed his head in understanding. Raising your laced fingers up, he brought them to his lips to softly kiss your knuckles, and you felt his simple single worded reply whispered against your skin. "Okay."
The street you were on didn't have too much to offer. It was a simple block with buildings lining the roads, shop after shop closed due to the time of the evening. The night sky was clouded, and the blaring street lights made the clouds look even brighter. You couldn't see a single star in the sky but there was something about the calm nature of such a late hour.
The sky was black tranquility. It was a softness that called body and brain to rest and let the heart go to its steady rhythm. Night came as a reward of sorts, a restfulness above to calm the soul. Though you loved the stars, there was something mysterious about a clouded night sky that just drew you in. Clouds hid the earth from prying eyes you never imagined could be there - but then again you never would have imagined limbo to be real, for reapers to exist, or a form of an afterlife just beyond the reach of the veil.
You had always been a deep thinker, the quiet of the night bringing such perplexing and complex thoughts that you never knew if you'd have answers to. You'd assumed that in death, you would have gotten those answers, but instead, you only had more questions. Perhaps human existence was never something to be completely understood, maybe no one being was ever meant to know it all. If only you could be content with such a vague understanding.
You were content with one thing though, despite your rapid thoughts there was always someone who was capable of bringing you out from the cavern of your mind. You let your fingers run against the back of his hand as you took a subtle glance at his side profile. Just one look at him and the rest of the world seemed to fade away, or perhaps it made a bit more sense in some multiplex way. His presence in your life brought forth questions you had never had before, but at the same time, he made you wish to forget every single one of them and just focus on this.
He was capable of exciting your intellect while making you feel so delightfully carefree. He was like a Rubix cube with prizes, but there was no way to fail with him. Even if you turned the cube the wrong way and aligned the wrong colors, he'd show you just how beautiful those colors could blend together to create something magical. Though if you were to dub him a single color you'd have to say he'd be purple.
Purple was a combination of the calming stability of blue and the fierce energy of red. A color often associated with royalty, nobility, power, and ambition. It also represented the feelings of creativity, wisdom, dignity, devotion, peace, and mystery. All of which could just be a few ways to describe the man you had come to know.
A color rarely occurring naturally in nature, just like Taehyung. He wasn't just someone you could find on every street corner. Every bit of him was different and unique in a way that would be impossible to duplicate. The way his brown eyes looked like perfect pools of honey in the sunlight, the way his lips stretched and conformed into a rectangular smile, the pitch of his voice that was both dominating and unnaturally soothing, even the shade of brunette in his hair somehow seemed too different from any other you had seen before. Surely you'd have to thank his parents for giving birth to such a wonderful collection of personality, intellect, and appearance. They created a masterpiece, even if they didn't know it. If only you had that chance.
Silently in your head, you had once again envisioned that ideal life he spoke so fondly off. It was like a movie reel slowly playing over in your mind, and it was quickly becoming your favorite film. Little details not mentioned you had begun to imagine up yourself, further losing yourself in that fictional world, so much so you began to speak aloud.
"I think if I were to marry you, I'd want my dress to be purple..."
