Chapter 28: First Place?!

Then, the announcer presented the new set of students.

A week before, Izuku invented something. It can help him feel his surroundings. Of course, it doesn't need a cool down. He uses this everytime he turns off his eye wear. He designed it as a glove. Easy to wear and easy to use.

"WELCOME ONE AND ALL TO THE YUUEI SPORTS FESTIVAL!!!" Present Mic announced. Aizawa was beside him.

"FIRST UP... YOU KNOW WHO I'M TALKING ABOUT... THE STUDENTS WHO HAD FOUGHT THE VILLAINS... THE FIRST YEARS OF THE HERO COURSE!!!" The class 1-A, with Izuku, presented themselves.

Izuku wore his invention. The rules say that if it's your invention, you can use it. Of course, this only applies to the support department. But, Izuku is a part of that department too.

"Wow. So many people." The students muttered.

The other classes joined in. Some of them were saying, "We're just here to make them look good."

"Now for the athletes oath..." Midnight appeared at the stage. "Woah. They really got the R-Rated hero in a highschool?" One of the audience asked. "SHUT IT!" Midnight hissed.

"Anyways, let's call Izuku Midoriya from class 1-A and 1-H!" She smiled. "Woah, 2 classes?! Is that even possible?"
"Yo dude, I've heard he saved 2 of his classmates during the attack at the USJ."
Both the audience and the school murmured.

Izuku went to the stage. "I'm just here to say that-*cough*-, crap... I forgot to take my pills... I'm not here to win but to gain experiences for my training. There had been so many obstacles in my life and I don't want that to ruin the chance of me becoming a hero. So, even if I don't make it to the first round, I'll be glad to be part of this festival." Izuku said while coughing. A line of blood can be seen dripping from his mouth.

He came down the stage. He quickly drank his medicine and he breathed calmly.

"Now, without any delays, let's start the first event started. And... the fateful first event this year is... the Obstacle Race Course!" She informed them.

"The Obstacle Race, it's a race between all 11 classes around the campus which is 4 kilometers far. I better use my power to it's fullest potential. After all, I never spent that so much time in Recovery Girl's office for nothing." Izuku summarized his thought.

The gates opened. When the light showed green, the race started. "Start!" Midnight signaled the students.

Todoroki aimed to be number 1. He used his ice quirk to skate away from the crowd. Of course, some students thought of this as a challenged already.

Of course, Izuku used Katsuki's quirk to move through. Yaoyorozu created a long pole from her hand and used it. Katsuki was moving around with his quirk.

Izuku did the same but with a weaker fire.

Izuku and Katsuki were both on a tie. Izuku needs Katsuki's fire so he needs to be with his side.

Then, the first challenge came. "EVERY OBSTACLE COURSE MUST HAVE A OBSTACLE IN IT!" Present Mic told them. "STARTING WITH ROBO-INFERNO!!" Present Mic gave the robot a name.

Todoroki easily beat them by freezing them when they are about to attack.

The robots fell into some of the students due to the unstable position they were at.

There were some kids, like Kirishima and the other student who complained about 1-A, that were crushed but they got back up in a nick of time.

"That guy from 1-B, his quirk, is steel." Izuku remembered.

Katsuki took action. He used his quirk to fly above the problem. This is followed by some students like Sero and Tokoyami.

Izuku thought of an idea. He used his knowledge. He grabbed an extra piece of metal. He decided to use this for attack and defense purposes.

Izuku ran as fast as he can. Every small robots, he used the metal piece.

The second barrier was The Fall. Thankfully, Izuku was allowed to bring anything he can as long as he created it. He brought a backpack. Inside this was his pills and some of his inventions.

One of his inventions was like Hatsume's. It's like a grapling hook but he can extend the rope with his commands. He took this out but first drank his pills, noticing that he coughed blood.

"I just need to adjust the rope and it's ready to go." He smiled. He glanced at his invention.

He used it and glided through the obstacle easily. Hatsume did the same.

"Nice work Midoriya! Keep it up!" Hatsume encouraged him and passed through him.

"Hey! That's unfair!" Some students yelled. "Not if you are part of the support department and created these!" Izuku and Hatsume smiles.

Izuku was part of the lead, as well as Todoroki and Katsuki. Then, Todoroki reached the final course, The Minefield.

"This obstacle puts the lead in the disadvantage..." Izuku summarized. Then, an idea sparked up.

While everyone, including Katsuki and Todoroki, was carefully walking through the field, Izuku was digging the mines into one place, he used the piece of metal. Everyone thought this was weird but Izuku always thinks outside of the box.

When Izuku gathered plenty of the mines, he triggered one that triggered all of the mines. This caused a big explosion. Using that explosion, he knew one element is fire so he used his Fire Control to be the lead.

Both Katsuki and Todoroki was surprised.

Izuku was behind them, after all he had done. But, he quickly tought of an idea. He smacked the ground causing the mines to explode.

Izuku was on the lead. He ran and ran and ran towards the finish line. Present Mic was still announcing...

"AND THE FIRST TO GET BACK TO THE STADIUM IS..... IZUKU MIDORIYA FROM CLASS 1-A!!! MAN, ERASER, WHAT DO YOU TEACH YOUR KIDS... ?" Present Mic announced.

Midoriya, my boy you surpassed my expectations... you are my one and only successor... Toshinori thought. Then, the business coursw began to buzz. Well, of course, some things never changed....
