Chapter 38: Bad News

"AT LAST, WE HAVE ARRIVED. THE BEST OF OUR FIRST YEAR STUDENTS NOW WILL BATTLE FOR THE TOP! TODOROKI VERSUS BAKUGO, READY? START!!!" Present Mic yelled.

Todoroki did the first move. He used his quirk to create a huge mass of ice. Katsuki was smart. He used explosions to dig his way through the ice.

Katsuki jumped and grabbed Todoroki by his hair. Katsuki threw him off the ring.

Todoroki managed to have an ice block his defeat. Katsuki charged for another attack. He ran and exploded an explosion on Todoroki's face. Todoroki managed to dodge and grab Katsuki by his arm.

"Use it..." Enji told himself. Shoto threw Katsuki.

"YOU'LL REGRET HURTING DEKU!!!" Katsuki rushed for another attack.

"Todoroki's good. But, ever since he fought Midoriya, he lacked his attack." Aizawa analized.

Katsuki kept attacking and attacking. "WHY ARE YOU EVEN HERE?!" Katsuki cried. "TO BEAT MY FRIEND UP?! TO PROVE THAT YOUR STRONGER THAN HIM?!" Katsuki avenged Izuku.

It's just at that moment.... I forgot about him... Izuku changed something in my heart... he made me break my vow to myself.... what does he have that no one has?! Todoroki thought. He kept dodging Katsuki by his ice.

Katsuki did a huge explosion. This sent Todoroki outside the ring. Katsuki won...

"N-no, not like this..." Katsuki wanted to hurt Todoroki even more. "I'LL KILL YOU!!! I WON'T AVENGE HIM JUST LIKE THIS, I'LL KILL YOU ALL!!! I-I-i'll k-kill you..." Katsuki fell asleep.

Midnight went closer to them. "And that concludes our winner for this year's sports festival! Katsuki Bakugo!!!" She announced.

After some few minutes, the school staff announced the winners. "Let's now move to the awards ceremony!" Midnight smiled.

On the stage, there was Katsuki, Todoroki, and Tokoyami. "Man, he's been wild since he woke up..." Yaoyorozu commented.

Katsuki was in chains. He had some kind of mouth guard that keeps him from yelling. "No holding back mister first place." Midnight sighed. "What a blood thirsty beast." Tokoyami looked at him.

"In the third place, we have both Tokoyami and Midoriya. But, Midoriya was forced to quit for health reasons." Midnight announced.

"Midoriya was really looking forward to the sports festival." One classmate of Izuku from 1-H commented.

"And now, presenting the medals this year... yoy know who it is."
"I am here, with the medals..."
"He's everyone's favorite hero, All Might!!!"

Midnight cut All Might. "Sorry. I cut you off." Midnight smiled shyly.

"Wow! The first year this year is something. Even All Might came to watch!" The audience was amazed by All Might's sudden appearance.

"Congratulations Tokoyami. You are a strong one." All Might put the medal on Tokoyami. "You honor me too highly." Tokoyami replied.

"But, relying on your quirk alone would lead you to a disadvantage. Improve your physical strength!" All Might hugged Tokoyami and patted his back. "Understood." The third placer replied.

"Ah, Todoroki my boy, congratulations! But, you didn't use your left side during your final match. If you don't mind me asking, why is that?" All Might put the medal on Todoroki's neck.

"It was my match against Midoriya. I think I have lost my way. I know you have taken intrest in him and I'm starting to see why. I have wanted to become a hero like you, but it's not like I can forget things just like nothing happened. There is still something I need to settle first." Todoroki finished.

All Might hugged him. "That's a new look I have seen on your face. I'm sure whatever you must settle, you can do it."

All Might went to the first placer. "And finally, Bakugo." All Might removed Katsuki's face mask.

Katsuki twitched. "All Might... I SHALL NOT ACCEPT THIS MEDAL!!! EVEN IF THE WORLD CONSIDERS I'M THE WINNER, I DON'T!!! I DON'T WANT TO VICTOR AGAINST SOME PERSON WHO'S HOLDING BACK!!!" Katsuki yelled.

What a face... Toshinori thought. "This world had a lot of twists and curves. There aren't a lot who get to experience being at the top. So accept this! Even as a wound! It would remind you of your victor today!" All Might started to put the medal on Katsuki but it ended up hanging on his mouth.

"And picture." Hatsume smiled. She took a picture of Katsuki being the winner. I'm sure Midoriya would be happy to see this...

"Well, here are your winners. But, hold on. Everyone here has a potential to be at the top. We just have to do our best and encourage ourselves to be the best. And now, let's have one final cheer. Everyone say it with me, one, two, three. THANKS FOR THE HARD WORK!!!" All Might yelled, everybody else said 'Plus Ultra'.

"WE ARE SUPPOSED TO SAY 'PLUS ULTRA', ALL MIGHT!!!" Everybody told him in unison.

"Sorry, it's just that everybody worked so hard and..." All Might stuttered.

The students returned to their classrooms. Except for the still unconscious Izuku.

"In light of the festival, you'll have tomorrow and the next day off." Aizawa announced.

"Scouting reports from pro heroes and such will be waiting for you here after the break. So look forward on that during your free time. And, Bakugo, may I have a word?" The teacher looked at the student.

"BROTHER!!!" Iida cried. "Tenya, keep it down. Also, wear a mask." Iida's mother reminded him.

"The anesthesia wore off. He's opened his eyes but, he's still out of it." The doctor continued. "If the surgery would be too late, he might not be able to make it"

"Tenya.... mother...." Tensei started. "My.... amazing little... brother..... I know... you look up to me.... so... I'm sorry..... Tenya.... your big brother....... has lost..."

Iida cried.

"What the fuck do you want, old man?" Katsuki asked Aizawa. "Don't swear infront of a teacher." He replied.

"Anywho... I wanted to say that Izuku will be living. Recovery girl told me that he's already awake but he slept again. You can visit him later if you want to. But, he might wake up tomorrow." The teacher told him.

"Sure, thanks for the info." Katsuki said as he went away.
