 Merida's POV

I can't believe this. He just ran off. This was supposed to show him, that he shouldn't worry about leaving again. That he will be forever in their hearts. But he... he... he ruined it! And it hurts to say that. The sound of shattering glass filled everyone's ears. “Astrid!” I watched her breaking down onto the ground, next to her shattered glass. Her candle stopped burning as the glass hit the ground and spread into hundreds of tiny pieces. “He... He doesn't care at all.”, she gasped and her whole body was shaking. No one did something. We all just stared at her. Suddenly, she started screaming. “He doesn't care at all!” Her arm clouted the glasses to her right, causing some of them to break or get cracks. She became pretty hysterical and hit her fists on the ground in front of her and a blood curling, hurt scream escaped her lips as she noticed that she just thrust her hands into several little pieces of glass. “A-Astrid...”, Fishlegs said softly, and took a step closer but she just released another scream. “He should have never come back!” My eyes widen. How could she say this? I could hear Stoick's heavy breathing next to me. “No...”, she uttered in a lower voice than before, “no.. no! He should have never left us! I should have stop him. All this would have never happen, if I just had stopped him! Nothing of this!” I gasped. She is blaming herself for all this. For those five terrible years. “Astrid...”, I whispered while exhaling a lot of air. She turned around to face me, her face was covered in tears and pain. Her wide eyes looked empty and suddenly filled with anger and hate. That was the moment I realized. The day she told me, that she's loving someone who already found someone... she meant Hiccup. “Anyways... we can't change the course of events. We need to bring him back.”, Stoick said, and his breathing seemed stable again, for this moment. But no one responded to him. They were all afraid to go too deep into the cave. Time was running... we couldn't leave him in this cave alone, again. “I'll get him.”, I stated and searched for the fastest way to run to the cliff. I needed Zalavy... else I won't get after him... and he probably took Toothless. “How?!”, Astrid yelled and made me focus on her again, “You are not even a viking! You are just a girl. What can you do against the dragons in the cave?” Astrid was clearly unaware of what she's doing. She was nervous, scared... hurt. One big chaos of feelings, but I still was shocked and upset about her words. Then I heard something. I looked around, looked up to the night sky, and I saw her approaching the point Hiccup stood before. “I may not be a viking... but I'm not just a girl.”, I yelled back, walking slowly up to Astrid as suddenly some heavy, white paws landed in the middle of the town center, causing the ground around them to shake and her wings to turn out the candles, leaving us in the dark. Her dark-orange eyes sparkled even in the dark of the night. The people started to get scared as I stepped in front of the unknown animal that just landed in their town. I turned my back to the dragon as she opened her mouth to light the scene. “I have my own dragon! And I am brave enough, to go and bring him back!” With this words, and some kind of an exaggerated show, I climbed on Zalavy's back and we took off from the ground to get to the cave. What we saw, when we got there, was nothing I expected. “They didn't want him to enter?”, I whispered to myself, as we flew through a whole in the steel bars, presumably made by Toothless. The metal was still hot and dripping at some parts. We entered the cave and it got dark fast. “Zalavy.”, I said and she knew what I wanted her to do, because the cave to brighter after she opened her mouth. “They can't be far...”, I whispered and Zalavy pointed her ears. Her wings draw back together, forming one wing on each side again, and I knew that she was going to speed up now. I tightened my grip on the equipment she wore. If I would have worn my dragon riding clothes, this would be much easier, but this dress will do it for now. “...” I heard some mumbling but we weren't close enough to understand it. “Come on!”, he said. Hiccup. “Just a bit closer, Zalavy”, I commanded and after a few seconds, we saw Hiccup in front of a horde of dragons. “It's alright! I am OK. You can come back to Berk!” His speech seemed worthless. The dragons remained in their positions. Zalavy slowed down and landed a few meters away from Hiccup. I jumped off her back and Hiccup didn't even turn around. “Hiccup!”, I yelled, while running towards him. His shoulders sacked down and I was greeted by a disappointed and confused face. “I... I don't understand... They are acting different than before.”, he stammered. “And so do the people...”, I interrupted his thoughts and he looked even more confused. I took his face in my hands, looking deep into his eyes and gave him a weak smile. “Yer father isn't the only one who-” “Went insane?”, he finished. That was not what I was going to say. I sighed and my hands slid from his face to his shoulders. “I just witnessed, how Astrid broke down in front of everyone. Screaming, crying... she wasn't herself... Ye told me, she's strong and... and tough. It was nothing compared to the time, she broke down crying, when she saw ye for the first time in five years. It was way more... brutal.” He gulped and looked down to the ground. I lifted my hand to stroke his cheek, but he won't look up to me. “Ye can't change everything... and ye don't have to.”, I uttered forthright and his fingers embraced my wrist. “I just... wanted to make them happy again...”, he said dreary and I wasn't sure if he meant the people or the dragons. I couldn't find any other words than his name, escaping my lips, like a try to make him understand. But I didn't understand anything myself.

(A/N: Stupid ending, I know @_@ But I want to write more chapters before I have to end this story q_q and I have to admit, the end is coming pretty soon!
