Third Person POV
The days passed and everyone helped, making Berk the bright place it was before. The bonds between dragons and Viking grew stronger with every day that passed. But with every day that passed, not only the riders and dragons bonds grew, the homesickness of Merida grew, too. It's been a month she spend at Berk, living with Hiccup and recovering Berk to make it dragon friendly. Another day passed and Merida sat on the bed in Hiccup's room. She told him she didn't feel well so she went off earlier. The orange-red sunlight glimmered through the window, settling down on her hands that were resting motionless on her lap. Her mind was still busy thinking about how the future will be, her heart was still busy missing her home and her eyes were still busy looking into nothing in particular. She left Zalavy to help Hiccup and the others repairing other things than the stables. The stables took nearly a whole month to finish, but at least, the dragons are home again. The feeding stations were still under construction and on their way to be perfect. Hiccup puts all his soul into the recovering of Berk. What if he won't leave with me again? That thought made Merida curl up into a ball, hugging her legs tight and pressing her forehead on her knees with a force that gave her a little headache, while she was balancing herself on the edge of the bed frame almost effortless. Her shoulders lifted as she held her breath. And she held her breath, thinking. She didn't noticed, until the moment a suppressed whine managed to escape her lips. She missed her mother. She missed her father. She even missed her brothers. But was she allowed to have those selfish thoughts? To desire to fly home. Her grip around her legs loosened and her back slowly drifted onto the mattress and her head lay in the middle of her wildly spread hair. The sun moved closer to the border that changed day into night, signalizing Merida that Hiccup is soon coming home. She then heard the front door open. Too soon, she thought. Will I tell him?, she thought. How would he react? Thoughts piled in her mind, giving her a headache again. What will I tell him?, she rolled on her side, turning her back towards the entrance to the room. Originally, we would be home already. Home. Her mind had a little shut down. The thoughts of Hiccup were pushed away by the question: Where is home? Her fingertips played with the ends of her curls. She ignored the sound of the door as it opened and stared into the wide areas of nothing and continued to plunk her hair. Hiccup looked at her, frowning. The sunlight nearly vanished completely, leaving them in darkness, if Hiccup hadn't set fire to some candles. He was sure that she wasn't sleeping, but he wasn't sure about her currents state. Merida, however, didn't moved, besides her fingers, still playing with the red mess of curls. She first thought she lied to Hiccup when she told him that she wasn't feeling well, but at that moment, it was the truth. She worried about things she didn't need to worry about. Hiccup would never leave her to stay at Berk. Hiccup would never fall back in love with Astrid and leave her. Hiccup would never cancel the marriage, ever. But still, Merida thought about things like this. He said he would live with her in Scotland, and he was sure about it. Merida's eyelids began to flutter with every second she spend thinking, causing her to fall asleep fast. Her eyelids were about to close for the last time this day, before Hiccup's sudden, soft kiss on her shoulder. He already changed into less clothes and lay next to her. He was really tired. That was one of the reasons he came back early. “How are you?”, he whispered into her neck, slowly roaming his hand up her leg until his arm lay relaxed over her side and his fingertips caressed her stomach. He knew that she was pretty sensitive there and his touch send shivers through her whole body. She turned around so his fingers were roaming over her back. She pressed her chin against her chest, avoiding eye contact with her soon-to-be husband, muttering the words: “I'm just sleepy... I guess.” Did he suspected anything? To her surprise, yes. He knew that something was up, but it could just be his imagination, he thought. And if he was right, she wouldn't want to talk about it. The light from the candles drew big shadows on the wall behind Merida, mainly because Hiccup was covering her entire body with his, letting not candlelight though her skin. She felt comfortable besides him. Warm, safe, loved. She didn't knew what to say or even to feel. Merida just wanted to close her eyes and fall asleep in his arms. Her eyelids felt heavy as lead and just after one second her lids were covering her eyes, she fell asleep. Hiccup noticed that after Merida snuggled up to him a bit. His fingers wandered carefully over her red curls, trying their best to not wake her up again. Eyes focused on her head, hands stroking her hair and will determined to care for her. He felt like he hadn't paid enough attention for her. A reason, his last relationship encountered and lastly ended. He didn't meant to do this. Who would? He turned around carefully, blowing out the candles before getting comfortable and closing his eyes next to Merida. She has to feel terrible, he thought. They just spend a month at Berk while he was just 5 days in her world in Scotland. But for his father and the others, it has been 5 years. He rubbed his forehead over all this thoughts. Was it right to complain about fairness, in such a case? Probably not, he thought. He sighed heavily, blowing some of Merida's hair away, leaving a veil of curls in front of her slowly lifting face. She was still asleep. Seeing her face behind those few curls made an image flash in front of his inner eye before he finally fell asleep.
