 Hiccup's POV

“You dropped something.”, a familiar voice said, and I turned to grab the hammer. “Tha-... A-Astrid!?” My eyes widen as I saw her, holing the hammer near to my chest. She looked in the other direction, petting Stormfly who probably fetched the hammer and gave it to her. “So I'm not even worth a whole 'Thank you' anymore?”, she asked cold and I felt guild cover me from the top to my toes. I've done terrible things to her and I have to apologize: “Thank you... look, I'm sorry Astrid I-” “No... It's ok. I mean... yes it hurt and... and I was pretty... down and said some mean things after you left and... but... thanks for bringing the dragons back.”, she interrupted, still not looking at me. The guild won't wash away before I'm worthy for her gaze again. We are friends. I couldn't leave, letting this situation behind me. “No Astrid... I'm really sorry... C'mon look at me!”, I begged and her shoulders sacked down and she looked at me, but her eyelids covered her eyes. “Yes, I still am... obsessed... with the thought that dragons aren't bad and this hurt you all, because you changed within 5 years and am not even close to changing...” what the hell was I talking about? I shook my head as I saw Astrid's frowning face. “What I'm trying to say is... please don't be angry with me...” Astrid sighed and looked away again. Ruffnut behind me cleared her throat and asked a question: “Before you two start a fight... would you mind putting me down?” Toothless made it to the ground and Ruffnut felt save on the ground again. She smiled, thanked me and petted Toothless before she went out of the construction zone. Astrid landed next to me. I was mentally ready for a lot of screaming and fighting. She took a deep breath, turned to me. Her face was serious. Here we go. “You are surely no strong and... or muscular viking.”, she said. “Well, thanks for pointing that out.”, I replied with a sarcastic tone, rolling my eyes. She started to chuckle and I rose an eyebrow at her. “But... you are... kinda a... dragon. It's in your soul, Hiccup.”, she added and she finally managed to smile at me again. I chuckled and I heard my father calling: “Hiccup! Astrid!” He came over as fast as he could and Toothless supported him as he stopped in front of us, panting. “Just give me...”, he panted, “a second...” I nodded at him and Astrid shook her head, sighing quietly. The sound of hammers hitting the heads of iron nails, forcing them to drill through the wooden planks and into the half broken walls, was all over the place. “I really missed this...”, Astrid uttered while my father was still calming down, and I looked around, whispering a little 'yeah'. “Well...”, the big, redheaded viking in front of us said, “and now it's back.” All of the sudden, Astrid hits me hard, directly on the spot, where Merida's arrow hit me shortly before we first met. I scream in pain and clutch my hand around my arm. “Ouch! That hurt! What the bloody hell was that for!?”, I yelled angry and Astrid gave me an angry look. “That's for leaving.”, she hissed. I sighed and roll my eyes but before I could say something, she hugs me and uttered shy: “That's for coming back...” The anger on my face washed away and I had no idea what to do, but soon, another pair of arms, belonging to my father, joined the hug, making it nearly impossible for me to breath. A swift sound of wings cutting the air came from behind. I couldn't even turn my head to see who it was, but her giggle told me it was my beloved soon-to-be wife, Merida. “That looks fun.”, she said jolly and I could swear that Astrid twitched as she noticed Merida. “Wanna join?”, I ask playful, using the amount of air in my lungs that had a chance to escape. The only thing I heard was a chuckle but I was sure that she grinned like crazy before she joined the warm, tight and somehow life-threatening hug, in the middle of the construction zone, formerly known as stable for dragons. “Well, well, well...”, an old and familiar voice chattered next to us and everyone released me from their bone crushing grip, turning towards the old man who just spoke. “Gobber!”, I gasped as he came closer but stopped a few meters away from us. Those five years have done him no good. “Oh... I wanted to join you too.”, he said disappointed and I moved over to him with a smile, hugging him. I haven't seem him in a long time. Well, I saw him, but I didn't talk to him, neither hugged him. Actually, I never really hugged him. “Hiccup.”, he choked and I released him from my grip and he took several deep breaths. “Yeesh, you missed me a lot, according to that hug. You squeezed everything out of me.”, he snickered and looked around, smiling over the fact that vikings and dragons are working together again. “I really missed this.”, he uttered, not taking his eyes off the working people and dragons. A smirk flashed over his face as he turned to me. “Looks like we just needed a bit of... this.”, he said, making some strange gestures towards me. I rose an eyebrow at him, looking down on me and up again. “You just gestured to all of me.”, I replied and everyone around gave me a huge smile, causing me to smile too. “Exactly.”, he uttered nodding his head and giving me a little 'you-did-good' wink. I'll miss Berk.
