"Did you pack everything in her bag?" I asked BB before I started taking shit to the car. She nodded her head, "Yes, I definitely packed more than enough." My mom was cooking a dinner today, and we were going over to spend some time. Plus, she didn't live too far from the hospital so I was going to stop through sometime today.

Mac was still in the same predicament, but I was always still praying for the best. If he did happen to pull through, I was willing to do whatever I had to do. If I had to get him the best physical therapist in America, then it was going to happen.

Once I got everything settled into the car, BB finally came out of the house carrying Kairi's car seat. She buckled her into my car safety, then finally took her position in the passenger seat.

Music played lowly on shuffle mode, low enough for an awkward silence to still fill the car. I focused closely on the road until BB placed her hand on my cheek, causing me to quickly glance at her.

"I love you baby, you know I'm here to listen if you ever want to talk about it." I nodded my head, pulling her hand to my lips and placing a kiss on it. "I love you more."

These days were going by quicker than expected, Kairi was growing more and more. When it came to Mac though, the streets weren't talking as much as I expected. Even though I told BB that I wasn't going to get involved, I wouldn't be Dave if I didn't. You could do a lot of shit to me, but you can't cross my family— especially not like this.

Deep down inside, I didn't trust none of these niggas or bitches at this point. The finger was pointed at everybody that was at that hospital until I found out the truth. If NYPD didn't do their job fast enough, I was gonna take matters into my own hands.

Interrupting the music, a phone call came through on my phone. The contact name read 'Alisha' on the car's radio screen. Bernice glanced at me before hitting the answer button, which honestly forced me to talk to the damn girl.

"Yo." I said out loud.

"Damn, seems like I haven't heard your voice in years. I'm guessing I no longer have a job." I shrugged as if she could see me, "It's not that, but I haven't been working lately. I took some time off for personal reasons. You good, you need anything?"

"I um actually- I was going to call you about that. Are you by yourself right now, it's actually quite personal."

"Yeah, I'm with my wife right now. I can hit you later though, and I'll have my accountant send you a lil something. I know I've been a horrible boss, that's my fault."

"Okay well, tell her and I said hello. Talk to you later."

Once the phone hung up, Bernice just continued to stare at me. "You're her personal therapist or something?" I smirked, "Nah, I don't even know what the fuck she got tell me. Chill out, you know it's not like that." BB said nothing before turning the music back on, putting on some slow ass R&B shit.
