"After this proposal is sent over, her lawyers will have forty-eight hours to send it back if she agrees. All medical expenses will be paid, and she will be receiving a little under $300,000 as a payout. She originally requested twenty million, but we both know that that was extremely excessive. This payment will secure that all charges will be dropped against you, and she will agree to no further discussion of the incident in the press. If you agree, you can go ahead and sign on this dotted line and I'll have my team fax this right over." Proctor said, as he placed the white stack of papers in front of me.
Going to trial was an option, but I didn't want the cards to not play in my favor. After going through the lawsuit for a few weeks, it became clear that the case was definitly not worth a 20 million dollar payout. She for sure looked like a scorned mistress, and there was no proof of me stealing the room key to get into her room. Now, if footage actually showed me attacking her-- she could've possibly had a better chance on getting a little bit more. But fortunately, everything was just word of mouth. Most importantly, my character was on the line and I didn't want to drag this out any longer. I insured that the paperwork stated that she could not continue to go to the press. She'd been doing interviews, I just want to make the bitch disappear.
Dave signed his name on the dotted line, and then slid the paperwork over to me. I hesitated for a bit, and then signed. "Make that your last time," I said before scooting my chair back and standing up from the table.
The last time for everything, this situation was a total embarrassment. And on the brink of it all, I found out I'm carrying two babies. There would definitely be no more room for any slip ups. I decided if I was going to stick this one out, this was the final chance. Play again, and you'll lose.
