OmniscientBernice sat against the window ledge in Devyn's apartment, looking across the living room. You could tell that Devyn was into all types of art because her home was all over the place, in a nice way though.
"You want some tea?" Devyn asked as she poured some into her mug, but Bernice thankfully declined. "So how is my brother? Like as a husband and father, does he really have his shit together?"
Bernice shrugged, "So far everything has been fine. Dave is Dave, he's a take it or leave it type of person."
"I've never been super close with Dave, I love him but it's never been that. I just remember him being a troubled teen, moving here with grandma, getting into a little trouble and now all of a sudden—he's this rapper. Now he's married with a whole kid, and my niece is beautiful as shit. I'm proud of him though, I just hope he doesn't fuck this thing up. I like you, a lot. I know it's only been a couple days, but I know when someone's being truly genuine."
Bernice smiles, "Thank you, seriously. People just always have this perception of me, like I'm with him for his money or I'm some wild girl. I have my own money, and I'm so much more than what it seems. We balance each other out and I'm becoming a lot more family oriented, so you guys are my family now."
"Are you guys having more kids?"
"No time soon, I actually had to get on birth control because your brother doesn't know how to pull out. I just got back on track from Kairi, and I'm not ready yet."
"Am I wrong for wanting an abortion? Like I get it's a human, but I'm not ready. I don't even know if I'll ever be ready, I never even pictured myself as a mother. I'm the kid that doesn't have it figured out and my parents hate that. Dave does what he does, and Dylan does too. I'm just a free spirit, I don't want nothing holding me back."
"I told you I'm with you 100%, so never feel wrong for doing what's best for you. If you're not ready, then you're not ready and you may never be ready. You need to leave your boyfriend alone, especially if he's abusive."
Devyn nodded her head, "I have, he's blocked on everything. I just need to call the clinic to set up an appointment to get it all over with, I'll be okay though. When are you leaving for Miami?"
"In the morning, my friends dragged me into this small girls trip. I'm gone fly there and just meet Dave back at home in a few days."
Devyn nodded her head, "So do you like Brielle? From stories, I heard they were like best friends when he was younger."
"That's bullshit, I was his one and only best friend. I haven't really talked to her, she's pretty though. I'll let him live a little, because once we go back home—she'll be a faded memory again."
"You're confident and cocky."
"I know who I am and what I have to offer, I have faith in Dave."
"So do you think he'll cheat on you?"
"He's mean, so no. I think he'll tell me he's unhappy before he cheats."
Whole time, Dave was on the other side of the town pounding Brielle out. It wasn't suppose to happen this way, but it did. They were only here for a few days, and shit was already getting turned upside down. Dave had no intentions of meeting up with an old friend, let alone having sex with her. It happened though, and that meant no turning back.
