\Peggy's POV/
I awoke up with a soft yawn stretching my chapped lips, my back aching, my mattress feeling like a rock. I grunted in discomfort for a moment before my eyes snapped open, revealing my surroundings.
I was on the floor, it seemed.
Angelica was still snoozing three feet away, arm dangling from the bed, her head of curls an awful mess, drool staining her pillow. Eliza was nowhere to be seen, her bed neatly made.
I groaned quietly, careful not to awake my older sister, as I knew she'd be in a bad mood for the rest of the morning until lunch. I sat up, stretching my aching limbs, glaring at my own self from the mirror across the room. I seemed to have develop a bad habit of falling out of my bed due to nightmares, ever since that night.
No, I shivered, blood running cold. I will not think about that night.
I forced a smile on my face and pretended to be happy, bouncing up with ease, starting to change into my normal drab for work. Soon, my happiness was a reality. My spirits eased, and I then forgot any mention of the horrid thought of that fateful night.
I tied my hair up as best as I could before giving up when the ribbon snapped, sighing softly. I never seemed to be able to tame my hair, a trait shared among my family, except Eliza. For some odd reason, she was different. Doesn't make her any less a sister, though.
I grabbed my broom as I headed out, hearing the thump of Angelica tumbling off her bed, her disgruntled grunt echoing throught the small living space. Must've been startled by the birds that rest at our open window, as usual.
The faint aroma of freshly baked bread filled my senses as I walked into the kitched, my mood immediately brightning. I saw the top of Eliza's head skittering about the room, a light humming filling the silence, preparing the necessaring tasks to start the day.
"Morning," I called to her, smiling softly. "Starting off the day bright and early as usual, eh?"
Eliza turned her head and beamed brightly, a faint blush tainting her cheeks. "Of course! Gotta keep up with the tasks, right?"
I gave her a sly smile as I started to sweep the floor. "You sure you aren't, ah, trying to impress our great Lord and Savior sir Hamilton - the Great - himself?"
Eliza's faint blush turned as red as a ripe plum. "O-Of course not! Why would you think of something so- so foolish-!"
I snickered as Angelica entered the room slowly, rubber her eyes and letting out a jaw-cracking yawn. "Oh, its obvious, dear sister. I may be younger but I sure do know the signs of a crush."
"Eh?" Angelica butted in from across the room, obviously just barely awake. "Who's got a crush on whom?"
"No one's got a crush on anybody!" Eliza practically shrieked as Angelica and I giggled in unsion, when suddenly, Alexander himself about knocked down the door, looking quite panicked. Oh, it was a sight to see.
"Is anybody hurt? I heard a scream." The Ham Man attempted to fix his posture but failed miserably, staring hard at Eliza, waiting for some sign that she was alright, it seemed.
Eliza's face burned even more. "Y-Yes, your Lord, everything is fine 'n dandy..." Her fingers twisted the hems of her stitched blouse, biting her lip, looking down at her feet.
