She was running through the fields, the long green grass up to her waist. She giggled as she turned and saw him following her, chasing her. His strides were longer than her, therefore caught up to her in no time. He wrapped his arms around her waist, lifted her off the ground, and swung her around. Her arms wrapped around his neck and pulled him close to her, feeling the way his lips touched hers. She smiled when he groaned at her touch and ran her hands through his hair.
“I love you.” He whispered in her ear, soothingly.
“I love you too”
“Daisy?” Luke tried to wake her up, his knee was becoming numb and they were close to the house anyway. He’d thought about carrying her up to her room to sleep, but she had guests and she could sleep all she wanted to later.
“Mmm” she mumbled and wriggled slightly before burying her face further into his neck and her snoring could be heard once more.
“Daisy” He tried again, pushing her head up away from him.
“What?” she grunted, looking up at him. He’d interrupted her sleep and she wasn’t happy about it.
“You told me you loved me.” He grinned.
“What the hell, no I didn’t.” she jumped off his lap and sat on the seat next to him, looking out window again. She knew what had happened. She’d talked in her sleep. It was the first time she’d dreamt about Brandon since the news and now her heart ached. She missed him and he was never coming back. She’d never feel his touch again or hear his voice. Tears pricked at her eyes at the thought of all of those things.
“It was Brandon, wasn’t it? In your dream? You were dreaming about him?” Luke asked and Daisy nodded. The car stopped and Daisy grabbed her coat. Her face was red and puffy and her eyes were blotchy and she wanted to get into the house and sort herself out before she saw anyone. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to-”
“It doesn’t matter, honestly. I’m fine. Really. Don’t worry about it.” She opened the door and got out, running down the driveway to the house. Luke watched as she flung open the door and slammed it shut behind her.
“I can’t see her like this anymore, it’s killing me. I’ve never seen her like this before. She’s always been happy go lucky Daisy.” Danny told Luke and Kurt. “I’ll go and make some calls, see what I can find out. There has to be something we can do.” He got out the car, pulling his phone out of his pocket at the same time and dialled a number.
Kurt stayed planted in his seat with his head on the steering wheel. He missed his friend, and could see how much it was hurting Daisy. Daisy had asked him to tell her what happened out there, and he wasn’t sure whether she was ready for that yet. But, on the other hand, should he tell her and get it all out in one go and let her deal with it all at once instead of leaving until she seems better? He really didn’t have a clue what to do and it was tearing him up inside.
“Is she okay?” Luke looked up to find Lee standing over him, accompanied by someone who looked vaguely similar to him. Luke thought it must be his brother. He looked at them for a moment, trying to figure out any intentions they may have had. He couldn’t understand why Lee was so interested. And he’d obviously planned coming to the graveyard to leave flowers.
He sighed and told them, “She’s fine. She just fell asleep and had a bad dream. Well, it was a dream, I’m not sure it was a bad one, but it upset her, anyhow. She’s probably gone to fix herself up.”
