“Two male casualties with gunshot wounds to the chest, One critical condition, one stable. ETA eight minutes.”

“What the fuck am I supposed to tell Daisy?” Luke shouted down the phone at the unsuspecting caller. “Yes, I know she bloody loves him, but I dare you to try and get her to admit it, you know how stubborn she is. I doubt she’ll just roll over because of this. They’ve both got a lot of figuring things out to do and I doubt very much that this is what’s needed. The exact opposite in fact.”
Daisy stumbled sleepily down the stairs at seven AM next morning having been woken up by Luke’s shouting A coffee at the café with Jade turned out as a night out at the pub and after rolling in drunk at 1AM, shouting was the last thing she wanted to hear.
“Right, I know it’s not his fault, nor is that.” He sighed in defeat. “Fine. I’ll tell her, but-” A noise from behind him interrupted his speech and he turned to see Daisy tripping over the leg of the dining room table and mumble an expletive before sniggering lightly.
“Oops.”
“I’m not happy about this. I’ll call you back, she’s awake now.” Luke threw his phone onto the dining table and smirked at his sister.
“I’m not usually like this.” She said in a whisper. “Oh, I’ve got such a headache.”
“I thought you didn’t drink, Little Miss prim and proper.” He said chuckling at her.
“I don’t, that’s why I’m not usually like this.” She sat at the table and rested her head in her hands. “Ugh, I’m never drinking again. I don’t like the headaches.”
“Coffee?” Luke asked with a satisfied smirk on his face. All the times he’d been out drinking and woken up the next morning with a hangover and she’d laughed at him, he could finally say that she herself had done the exact same thing.
“God no.” she shook her head and groaned. Coffee was the last thing on her mind. Getting a shower and out of these stinky clothes was the first. “I’m off for a shower in a mo. By the way, who was on the phone?”
“Just Jay.” He admitted with a shrug.
“Oh,” she scrunched her face up in distaste. “What did he want?”
Luke sighed and sat next to Daisy at the table. “He wanted me to tell you something.”
“Go on.” She urged, determined to get him to say what she already knew.
“I’m not even sure how to say it. It’s all a bit confusing.”
Daisy rolled her eyes at him and slumped back in her chair. “Forget it, I know all about it.”
“Know all about what?” Unsure of what she knew, he didn’t want to shoot his mouth off and blab. But if she knew, what was she still doing here?
“Don’t bullshit me, Luke. I know about Brandon.”
“You do?”
“Yep.” She nodded. “Jade saw him too.”
“Right, well, that’s not what I was going to tell you. That tosser can wait for a bit longer.”
