Daisy stared at her reflection in her dressing table mirror, studying the lines and blemishes on her once flawless face. With depression taking its toll, she’d found no reason to bother even getting dressed on a morning with sitting around all day in her pyjamas, dressing gown and slippers either sleeping or munching on tubs of ice cream having become the norm. Having been not usually an ice cream lover, this had her feeling disgusted with herself, bringing the depression out to the forefront, resulting in more ice cream being consumed. A vicious circle.

Glancing over to her bedside cabinet where yet another tub of Ice cream sat, she turned her face up at it before grabbing it and the spoon sat next to it and jumped on her bed digging into the tub, forgetting her disgust seconds before.

Six weeks had passed since she’d read the letter from Lee and she couldn’t seem to get him out of her head. Thoughts of him invaded her every waking moment and she wanted nothing more than to go to him and have him wrap his strong muscular arms around her telling her everything was going to be okay, like only he could.

But Daisy wasn’t gullible, she knew that things weren’t going to be okay, and with her imagination running wild, she also knew that things would never be the same again. As much as she wanted to be with Lee, as long as she was still ‘seeing’ Brandon, she could never be with him. Things would just be too complicated and she didn’t want to bring him into all of that and mess with his head. Besides, he had enough on his hands with Cody.

Taking another spoon of ice cream, she sighed, slumping back onto the bed, resting her head on the headboard and closed her eyes. As she heard footsteps on the stairs, it was times like this that she wished she lived alone and was left to wallow in her own self-pity. But no, Luke seemed to have made himself at home and had no plans to go back to work any time soon.

The door swung open and Daisy groaned, making a mental note to get a lock on there. Luke stood there with Kurt and Darren. They’d been gone the last six weeks on training exercises and definitely weren’t expecting to come back to Daisy like this.

“What are you doing?” Kurt growled lowly as he snatched the ice cream tub away from her. “You don’t even like ice cream.” Daisy shrugged and pulled her quilt over her face, blocking out the glares she was receiving. “Come on, Daise,” he sat on the end of her bed and tugged on the quilt, pulling it away from her face. “Tell me what happened.”

“I’m sure he’s already filled you in.” she snapped, nodding her head towards Luke. “Not much more I can add to that.” She curled herself up into a ball and wrapped her arms around her legs and buried her head into her pillow.

Kurt nodded to Darren and Luke to which they nodded back in understanding and they turned to leave and the door closed behind them. Kurt shuffled up closer to Daisy and rested his hand on her side. “Are you going to tell me what happened – your version of events. As much as I like Luke, I like hearing your voice more.”

This made Daisy smile and she sat up slightly. Kurt brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear and rubbed his thumb along her cheek in an attempt to get her to relax. “I saw him again.” She admitted. “But it wasn’t just a brief glimpse; he stood right in front of me. At first, I couldn’t see who it was, but he pulled his hood down and… Kurt, I think I’m seeing things. This can’t be real, can it? This can’t be true.”

Kurt sighed and looked away guiltily. If there was ever a time for him to come clean and tell Daisy everything, it was now. “Daisy,” he started. “There’s something I need to tell you. I don’t want you to freak out and as much as I didn’t want to tell you so soon, I’m going to have to. But you’ve got to promise me you’re going to stay calm. Luke told me all about your heart condition and you need to stay out of stressful situations.”
