“Daisy.” Luke’s voice interrupted her dreams, pulling her from her slumber. “Wake up, Daisy. The Doctor’s here.”

Daisy’s eyes opened and blinked several times, adjusting to the light of the hospital corridors.

The sympathetic smile of the doctor seemed to drive through her causing her to shiver to the core.  Luke tightened his coat around her shoulders and pulled her close to him, warming her with his body heat.

“I-is he okay?” Daisy asked, barely able to form intelligible words. Having had just four hours sleep the previous night, she was shattered.

The Doctor smiled knowingly. “Which of you is Jamie Hutchison?”

Jay appeared behind him with a pale looking Cody in tow and cleared his throat.

“That’s me. This is our brother, Cody. Is Lee okay?”

The Doctor nodded. “We managed to retrieve a very nasty looking bullet from his abdomen. Luckily it didn’t hit anything major and all was stitched up well. He’s on his way down to the ward now and you can go in to see him soon. I have to ask, do you know anything about the other young man that was brought in?”

“Other man?” Jay asked, worriedly. “I didn’t know anything about another man. What does he look like?”

“Black hair, brown eyes, lots of tattoos. In fact, from the outline of the laser removal, it looks as though your brother had a similar one.” The Doctor pointed to his right side and recalled the words, “Sons of Saints”

“Lee has a tattoo?” Daisy asked. “I never noticed that.”

“It’s not easy to notice” the Doctor told her, “Although, as the bullet hit the right side of his abdomen, it was one of the first things we spotted when checking the wound.”

“Joel.” Jay nodded. “His name’s Joel Turner. He’s the only person I can think of that has so many tattoos – a similar one to Lee as well. Actually,” he pulled up Cody’s shirt, revealing a tattoo on his right side and asked, “That it?”

“Yep, that’s the one. I can get the receptionist to pull up his records, but to make her job easier, do you happen to have a number for a relative?”

Jay shook his head. “No, his mum lives on the other side of town; Lee will know the name of the street, but I can’t remember it.”

“Okay, well, I’ll have the receptionist do that.” The Doctor told him. “Give the nurse five minutes to set Lee up there and you can go in and see him. He’ll be drowsy for a while though, so just two at a time, please.” He turned on his heel and walked away towards the reception.

“Jay.” Daisy started, curiosity lining her voice. “What’s going on? Who’s Joel Turner? More importantly, what the hell was he doing to have got himself shot?”

“You know, he’s been miserable without you.” The subject was swiftly changed.

“So’s she.” Luke interrupted. “Miserable sod’s barely left the house. I say we lock them in a room together and don’t let them out until they’ve sorted things out.”

“Shut up.” Growled Daisy. “You go and see him, we’ll wait.” She told Jay, who gave a swift nod and headed down to Lee’s room with Cody.

Daisy turned and slumped back on the chair she’d been sat on and rested her head in her hands. She knew that he’d been hiding something, and the fact that Jay knew the ‘other’ man in the hospital suggested that he knew exactly what that ‘something’ was.

“You don’t want to see him?” Luke asked.

Daisy shook her head. “Not yet. I want to find out what’s going on first.”
