[Chapter 16] : Welcome Back

You were sitting next to Eiji at the back. You all have stayed silent for a while. You stared at Ash and you saw him facing the door. "I'm sorry Ash. It's all my fault for being followed.." Eiji suddenly said. You then turn to looked at him and called him quietly "Eiji..". Eiji then looked down on his knees as tried to comfort him.

"are you okay?" Charlie suddenly asked. Charlie glance at Ash several times. "I feel sick. Can you stop the car?" Ash said weakly. Charlie quickly pulled over his car at the side of the road. After the car fully stopped, Charlie then went to get Ash. "here, grab my hand" Charlie said trying to help Ash up. Suddenly his phone rang. Charlie was about to take out the phone out of his pocket then you saw Ash quickly point a gun at him.

Charlie looked at Ash and back off a bit. "what are you doing?" Charlie asked. "Ash?.." you called quietly. "I'm sorry (y/n).. But I need all of you to get out from the car" Ash said still pointing the gun at Charlie.

You then saw Ibe and Eiji went outside. You didn't moved from your seat and just stare at Ash. "Don't be stupid Ash! What do you think you're doing?" Charlie ask angrily. Ash then smirk and say "ask your chatty friend. He knows"

"(y/n).." Eiji called quietly. You then looked at him and you saw him handing his hand to help you out. "Ma.. Max? Gosh that idiot! Wait a minute Ash! you need to calm down! We know the shooter is with Arthur.. " you heard Charlie spoke again. "I DON'T CARE! this is my problem. I'm going to settle it myself! Now, STEP ASIDE!" Ash shouted angrily.

You're about to step out of the car then you heard Ibe shouted "watch out! Arthur!". Both you and Eiji then stopped and looked at the direction where Ibe pointed. Suddenly you feel the car moved in motion. You turn to look back at Ash and you saw Charlie and Ibe trying to take the gun off of Ash's hand "Ibe! Drag him out!" Charlie said. You didn't moved and just stare at then.

Not a moment after, you saw Eiji walk to the front seat next to Ash. "(y/n), close the door" Eiji said quietly. You were surprised at first but quickly close the door. Ash still struggling to get himself off of Ibe and Charlie. Ibe then realised what Eiji's trying to do "Ei.. Eiji? What are you doing?" Ibe l asked. Eiji suddenly drive the car forward in high speed making both charlie and ibe pulled forward by force. "I'm sorry Ibe!" Eiji muttered to himself. Ash then quickly pushed them outside making both of them fall to the ground.

You then turn to look at Ash. You saw he has calm himself down. "are you okay Ash?" you asked. Ash didn't respond to you and just stayed silent. "haahh.. I bet Ibe is furious" Eiji said while focusing on the road. "stop the car" Ash said coldly. Eiji quickly pulled over as Ash open his mouth once again "you both get out" Ash said. "what?" you asked then Eiji speak up "no! This is our problem too Ash! Your brother was shot right in front of our eyes.. It's all because of me.. " Eiji stated.

You then looked down at you knees. "I'm sorry Ash.. I should've saved him beforehand if I knew this would happened" you said weakly. "Japanese people must be masochists. You both feel responsible for everything" Ash said annoyingly.

After a moment of silent, Ash open his mouth once again "fine, have it your way! geez" Ash said. You and Eiji quickly looked at Ash "REALLY??" you both asked together.

Ash turn away from both of you and look at the window. "so we can stay with you?" Eiji asked excitedly and you nodded trying to asked the same. "yeah yeah.." Ash said then turn to look ag both of you and continue ".. But you better look after your own ass and don't get in my way!" You and Eiji then nodded together happily.

"Where to go now?" Eiji asked. "go to Chinatown. We're going to find Shorter" Ash stated. Eiji nodded and start driving the car.

- In Chinatown -

"I don't think we can passed those crowds with this car. How about we take a walk?" you said as you get closer to both Eiji and Ash. "yeah, I think we should just walk.. Eiji, park the car" Ash said.

Not a moment after, Eiji parked the car and all of you went outside. There're lots of people on the sidewalk so the three of you have to walk closer next to each other "I bet Shorter can't wait to see you" Eiji suddenly said. You turn to looked at him and you saw him smiling. You just giggled a bit, suddenly you feel Ash's hand reached your arm. You quickly turn to look at him "Ash? What's wrong?" you asked quietly. "keep walking and don't look back" Ash said. All of you then walk faster. Not a moment after, Ash spoke again "here!" Ash said then pulled you into the dark hallway with Eiji. "Ash?" you asked again. Ash then let go of your arm and stand in front of you "someone's following us. Stay back" Ash said. You and Eiji jumped a bit at his statement. Suddenly you saw a guy showed up.

"what do you want?" Ash asked coldly with his hands in his pocket. The guy then quickly take out his knife and before he could attack, Ash take him by his collar then pulled him closer and kick him making the guy fall to the ground. Ash quickly put his leg behind the guy's back and lock his hand. "who sent you? Arthur? One of Golzine's guys?" Ash asked while pulling the guy's hair making him look up a bit. "..I.. I know nothing!" the guy said in pain.

Suddenly you sense someone behind you. You quickly turn around and tried to look at it "who's there?!" you asked. You can't see very clearly until you noticed the hair. You turn around and shouted "Shorter!". Shorter smiled at you as you smiled at him happily. Both Ash and Eiji then look up at him. "let us take it from here.." Shorter said with a smirk on his face. "still have the touch huh?" Shorter said then turn to look at Ash and smiled.
