Chapter 6

~the day Hiccup leaves~

Astrid's POV

I woke up and remembered that Hiccup was leaving today. I felt sad of course because my husband was leaving but he'll be back in 2 days so I guess it isn't that big of a deal. I climbed out of bed and went downstairs for breakfast.i smelled eggs once I opened the door.

"Hiccup are you cooking again?"

"Yeah I think I'm doing good so far nothing is burned." He said and there was a slight pause "Nevermind." He said. I laughed and went into the kitchen. "I burned my eggs."

"Do I need to teach you how to cook?"

"Probably. But after I get back." He said and grabbed more eggs.

"Oh yeah I forgot you were leaving." I lied.

"I'll be back on Thursday safe and sound."

"When you say that you come back injured."

"It's gonna be different this time I promise!" He shouted happily.

~time skip~

"Be back safe okay?" I said as I kissed Hiccup's cheek.

"I promise." He said and mounted Toothless, then took off.

Hiccup's POV

It was about a two hour dragon ride to Skye Island. I sat back on Toothless's saddle.

"Well bud, we've got time for a few stunts." I said and turned his tail to automatic. He gave an annoyed grumble. "Oh shoosh." I said and slid off.

I dove straight down and did a few twirls. I looked around the ocean for any sign of Skye Island and noticed it about 5 minutes to the East. I opened my suit and flew towards the island. Once I landed I got a lot of weird looks from people. I assumed it was just because I was flying along side a dragon, so I walked towards the Great Hall.

"Ah Hiccup Haddock the new chief of Berk. Nice to see you."A man greeted. "I'm Stuart, Chief of Boarhead Island." I shook his hand. "And I've heard about the trained dragons thing." He said and eyed Toothless.

"He's friendly I promise." I said. He pointed to an empty chair. I sat down in it. It was quite large, so obviously made for my father. I barely took up half of it.

"UGH I HATE THESE CHIEF MEETINGS!" Someone shouted as they burst through the door. I looked forward and saw none other then Dagur. Of course he would be here. "Hiccup? What are you doing here?" He asked bitterly with a bitter expression.

"I'm Chief of Berk now Dagur." I said and stood up. He's still taller then me.

"Ah well congratulations." He said angrily and walked across the hall to his chair. I'm glad I don't have to sit anywhere near him.

"Alright now that everyone is here we can begin. We will have to go through introductions since we have our new chief here today. I'll start. I'm Neil, Chief of Skye Island."

"I'm Timothy. Chief of Spout Island."

After we were done with introductions we started talking about actual chiefly things. I really don't think anyone else payed attention because they just kept staring at me and Toothless. I stood up and spoke.

"Okay yes I have a Night Fury next to me and yes I'm small so can we get over it and actually pay attention?" Everybody just had blank stares. "Sorry Neil. Please continue."

"Let's pick up where we left off tomorrow. I think all of us need some rest." Neil said and everyone cleared out leaving me with Toothless and Neil.
