My eyes opened.

I was in a room. A familiar one.

I felt something in my hand. A weapon. My weapon.

I looked up. A gem backed up against the wall. Tears running down her eyes.
A small round white gem was located at her neck. A quartz. I remembered her...I shuddered. I let my weapon flicker away.

I was back at Homeworld.

The quartz was still backed up against the wall. I looked at her. She was so small and thin. A defective. Of course.

"I'm so sorry." I muttered. I offered my hand.

The gem looked at me. Confusion in her eyes. She stared at my hand not quite sure what to do with it.

"I'm not going to shatter you." I explained.

I had a second chance.

I need to set things right, from the very beginning.

"When are you ever thinking? When will you realize... YOU CAN'T JUST DO WHATEVER YOU WANT! I..I DON'T UNDERSTAND YOU! ALL YOU EVER DO IS FOR YOURSELF! DO YOU EVER REALIZE HOW SELFISH YOU ARE? YOU SAY IM SELFISH?!? YOU DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH I SACRIFICED JUST TO GET HERE!"

"Coral? Are you alright?"

I looked up. Jasper . She had one hand extended out. A smile spread across her face.

"Yeah...I'm fine..." I murmured. I accepted her offer to help and I slowly stood up.

"Bad memories?"

I simply nodded. Those words echoed in my head. I didn't remember who had said them. Whoever it was, I was sure they weren't from this timeline.

"Jasper...?" The yellow gem looked at me. She was always so kind to me.

"Hmmm?"

"Am I.....selfish?"

She bursted out laughing.

Did she think this was a joke?

She stopped as soon as she saw my expression.

"Coral? What kind of question is that?!"

"JUST ANSWER ME!" My voice rose higher in volume. My body became tense. She smiled and shook her head.

"Coral where is all this coming from? You're literally the most selfless being I know. Heck! You saved countless gems from getting shattered! Everyday you're sacrificing yourself in order to save defective gems! If that's not selfless, I don't know what is."

I smiled.

I'm glad.

I'm glad that I changed.
