Coral's POV
I stood there, motionless, my whole body submerged in water.

Familiar. Water. My room.
I was trying to process what in the galaxies had just happened. The terraformer was still in my room.

Pearl.

She was standing. Stunning. Beautiful.

I felt my chest pound. I felt myself increase in temperature as the cold water rushed past my sides.

"CORAL?! LAPIS LAZULI?! What on earth is going on?!" Her voice struck me like a blow to the heart.

"Hey." The lapis responded. Of course. I had completely forgotten that I wasn't alone.

I snapped back onto reality. Anger and embarrassment rushed through me. The sense of realism had returned. What a fool I was. I should have known. I should have remembered. I turned to face Lapis Lazuli. Her face didn't portray any real difference in emotion. She just stared off in the same direction. She caught my gaze and simply shrugged her shoulders. I turned back to the second gem in the room. Her face still portraying a shocked expression.

"So are you too going to keep staring at each other like a bunch of idiots or can I go?" The blue gem asked, clearly frustrated from the amount of silence and unnecessary eye contact.

I felt my face redden even more. "T-thank y-you... I suppose you can go...very sorry.." I muttered awkwardly. What was one supposed to do in a situation like this? Your love interest in front of you and a stranger standing next nearby while you try and not to scream from embarrassment? The gem exited the room; the door opened and the water rushed right out before it was shut tight again. I mentally facepalmed myself. I clearly did not think this situation through. I faced Pearl again. Instinctively I approached her. She backed away.

"Why are you in the temple? Why is Amethyst's room flooded? WHY IS MY ROOM NOW A SURFACE OF WATER? HOW DID YOU EVEN GET IN HERE?!?" She shrieked.

"Look I can explain-"

"Save it." Her voice was cold. She seemed infuriated. I was about to be too. I held my ground.  My fist clenched. But I eventually let it relax and fall to the side. I took a breath out.

"Look I ju-"

"Get out." She threatened. The anger was burning from her teal eyes. She quickly summoned her spear.

I backed away. My teeth gritted. I can't simply attack her. I fought the bloodthirsty instinct to launch forward. This time will be different.

One

She came closer. Her hands tightening around the spear.

Two

"Pearl! Please I'm sorry about the room! I wasn't thinking!" I explained. I stepped back. How could I fight her? I loved her. My hands were slowly crawling up to my gem.

No. I refuse to shatter my only true love.

Three

But she doesn't love you.

Four

She stopped. Her face looked down.

Five

Silence came between us. We stood in the room full of water. A sense of déjà vu came to me.

Six

"When are you ever thinking? When will you realize... YOU CAN'T JUST DO WHATEVER YOU WANT! I..I DON'T UNDERSTAND YOU! ALL YOU EVER DO IS FOR YOURSELF! DO YOU EVER REALIZE HOW SELFISH YOU ARE? YOU SAY IM SELFISH?!? YOU DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH I SACRIFICED JUST TO GET HERE!" She shouted. A gust off water slammed against me knocking me over.

Seven

I shut my eyes.

Eight

Whatever I want?

I wanted love.

Nine

Was it selfish to want love?

To be loved?

TEN

Please take me back to the beginning.
