(Steven's POV)
I wiped my tears away. I watched Pearl mutter something under her breath. It wasn't quite clear what she had said, but she too, started to cry afterwards. Pearl got up and held the red gem to her chest.
"Steven, lets go to my room to talk, alright?" she asked, her voice trying to stay calm, but it clearly showed signs of shock and uncertainty. I placed the box down on the table by the couch and followed Pearl, trying to stay close by her side. We approached the temple door where all the rooms were located. Pearl's gem glowed and the door to her room opened instantly. She turned to me.
"Steven, hold onto her carefully." she said placing the damaged red gem into my palms. I examined it and to my surprise, it was cracked, to the point in which it was almost shattered. Suddenly without warning, Pearl pick me up and put me under her left arm.
"Wait Pearl!" I yelled. She jumped quickly and gracefully onto the tallest fountain in her room. She let me down gentle. I looked at her, but her eyes wouldn't meet mine. "Pearl.... Who is this gem?" I held out my palms, the gem was still resting there. Pearl sighed and finally responded.
"Her name....is Coral..." I looked down at the gem and back at Pearl again. A terrible thought went over me. "She didn't shatter any gems did she?" I asked, just saying these words aloud made my insides turn stone cold. There was a long uncomfortable silence. "Steven, that's not important right now, just heal her gem." She spoke finally, she sound stressed and upset. I didn't question her any further and licked my palm, my magical spit glittered a little as I placed my hand over the red gem. It started to give off a light red glow that got larger and larger. Instantly, I opened my hands and let the gem float up. The physical form start to emerge from the gem. Her back had been turned from me and Pearl, but I could clearly see her gem which was located at the back of her head. Her distinct red hair was styled with two pony tails. She was was wearing a scarlet colored outfit. Her body dropped to the ground. I could hear her panting heavily. I crept closer to the gem. What's wrong? Was she hurt? She suddenly turned around, her hand slapped mine away. I quickly retracted my arm, the slap really hurt. "Owww!" I yelped. I looked at her, her eyes seem so scared and angry, but when she saw me, they soften instantly.
"Agg! I'm so sorry! I thought you were trying to hurt me! Sorry, it's just a a reflex..." She explained nervously. She seemed pretty friendly. "Oh! Your a human! How did you get in a place like this?" she asked as she looked around. I heard another set of footsteps approach. I turned around to see Pearl, her hands covered her mouth and tears streamed down her eyes. "Pearl, are you okay?" I asked turning around to hug her feet. The other gem, Coral, looked up at us. Her face light up and tears of joy ran down her cheeks. "Pearl!!!!!" She yelled as She ran to embrace her.
