Flashback from the date night

"No, I'm done hearing u out! Now, u'll hear me out: leave and never come back...are we clear??"

"Do u really want me to leave?" He asks looking at me,finishing dressing up

"Yes...I do! You don't deserve me!" I answer yelling with a broken voice

"Ok..." He says picking his suit-jacket up. He puts his hand in the inside pocket of it, taking a little velvet box

"I didn't want this to happen like this, but I want u to have this! I bought it when u told me your favorite color is deep purple...please accept it,even if u hate me...I really want u to have it...it was made for u!" He says giving the box to me. I reach his hand taking the box and opening it. I gasp putting my hand on my mouth.

"I can't accept it..." I say after a couple of secs still looking at it

"U can...it's been yours for years! It's custom made, there's no other like this..."

"This doesn't change anything..." I tell him raising my head to look at him

"I know..." He says with his hands in his pants' pockets. Then he turns around,opens the door and leaves...

End of flashback

"Aww how sweet! are u still together?" She asks

"No...we practically never wer! But we both knew we belonged together..."

"That's sad..."

"It is...but it's ok...shit happens!"I say with a fake smile

"Hahaha u're right...anyway it's beautiful!"

"Thank u..." After that,she leaves to say hello to some people she knows

"Alexa, We have to talk..."Anthony says to me

"We have nothing to talk about..." I say taking a sip from my drink

"Yes, we have...we have a son and u didn't say anything all these years?"

"Keep it down,would u?"

"Well,excuse me, but I can't!"

"Are u serious now?? Want me to start listing all the reasons u have absolutely no say over my life? Here?"

"Alexa, this is not about your life...this is about our fucking son!"

"He is my son! Ok? I raised him...by myself! Besides, u have kids from your marriage..."

"Yes, but that doesn't make him less mine! Alexa, let the ego down! Don't u think I deserve to meet him? does he know about me?"

"Hell, no..."

"Wow...do u hate me that much?"

"Hate u? No...no no no! I still love u like hell and I hope it gives u hell to know that u could have a family with me...u know,I never wanted kids...like never! But I kept it because it was yours! That's how much I love u..."

"The fuck, Alexa?" Stella asks

"He deserves to know how I feel...I really like his face now, look at him!" I say looking at him. He looks at me with a confused look

"So...where were we? oh yeah...I love u like hell! I could die for u..."

"So why haven't u told him about me?" he asks

"Because it hurts,ok? How can I say to my kid that his dad was my professor and that I fell madly in love with him, only to end up being pregnant with him, after a one-night-stand? Tell me how!" I say trying very hard not to yell

"It wasn't just a one-night-stand..."

"Whatever...go back to your wife! And make sure to fuck her good tonight...like u fucked me that night..." I tell him and I turn around leaving

"I'm having so much fun,tonight!" I hear Kate say, laughing

"U are going to pay...u'll come home with me tonight!" I tell her turning my head to look at her and she stops laughing

The rest of the night we spend it away from Anthony and Nancy, changing the subject completely. A couple of hours later and after having talked to the ones we know, we decide to leave. As we're outside waiting for our cars, Nancy and Anthony come too

"oh! We meet again!" Nancy says

"Yeah..." I say without making eye contact

"Alexa,I meant to ask u,but I couldn't find u after I left...are u married? No offense, simple curiosity!" She asks

"Nancy...what are u asking? These are personal stuff!" Anthony scolds her

"Well,no I'm not...I almost did,but eventually I didn't... and I'm perfectly fine with it! I have my career,my son,my friends..." I answer ignoring him

"Of course! Do u still talk with the father of your son? I mean,he must be the one u almost got married..." she continues

"Nancy,stop! Let's go!"

"But our car isn't here yet!"

"It's coming!" He says grabbing her by her wrist and pulling her away

"Don't bother...my car is here,anyway!" I say as they bring my car

"Is that your car?" Nancy asks with an open mouth

"Yep! My beauty! I worked so hard to get it!" I say proudly for my Audi Q3

"It seems great!"

"It is...well, u will have to excuse us! "

"Of course! Good night! It was so nice seeing u all again!" she says

"U too! Good night..." I say and after saying goodbye to Stella and Emma, Kate and I get in the car leaving

"Why do I have to come with u?" Kate asks me

"Because I need to talk to someone! And I need someone to stop me from drinking till I throw up..."

"Alright then...Is George gonna be there?"

"No, he'll be sleeping at his best friend...thank god!"

"Yeah...why didn't u tell me about the ring?"

"I didn't consider it important...and it honestly slipped my mind! I just saw it when I was searching for jewelry and I put it on...as if it meant nothing..."

"I see...but it means something, right?"

"Of course it does! It was custom made and one of a kind...he had it for 7 years!"

"Wow...and when did he give it to u?"

"After I told him to leave...he begged me to keep it, so I did..."

"Ok then...it's beautiful! He has a good taste..."

"I know...but I have so many rings, I don't even know how it popped..."

"U've never worn it before?" She asks me surprised

"I think not, I would remember...I really don't know how come I wore it tonight! It's like it was waiting the right time..."

"Well,I don't believe it has magic powers..." She says sarcastically

"Of course not! I'm just saying..."

After that dialog, we spent the rest of the ride speechless, until we were at my house. When we got in, I threw my heels away and went to the kitchen. Kate sat at the couch, getting her heels off too. Few secs later, I came back with a glass of wine for Kate and the rest of the bottle for me. It was gonna be a big night...
