It was raining in Sydney today.
Luke hated that. He hated the smell of the rain, and he hated the fact that he couldn't go outside without a jacket, plus the roads were slippery and it was dangerous. Sadly Luke had to go out today, he had to meet his brothers at Ben's house, they needed to talk about the gift for their mother's birthday.
So the blonde reluctantly grabbed his jacket and shoes, he left a quick note on the table for his parents and he took the road. It was really raining cat and dogs, but Luke was careful. He always was.
When he opened the door to Ben's house, he was soaking wet, his hair was flat against his forehead and his clothes were sticking everywhere. The blonde wiped his feet on the carpet and a few seconds later Lenny happily jumped on him, so the blonde figured that Jack was already here as well. Luke smiled, he bent down and he petted the small dog's head.
"Hi Lenny, how're you puppy?" Lenny barked twice and Luke giggled. "You missed me? You missed me huh?" He pressed the small dog against his chest. "I know you missed me." He cooed. "You're so cute o-oh no no don't lick my cheek please." He said pulling the dog away softly.
"Sometimes I think Luke prefer dogs over people." Ben said from the living room and Jack giggled in approval.
"I heard that!" Luke giggled back, but it was kind of true anyways, except for his family and friends -of course-.
Luke made his way to the living room and he kissed his brothers' cheeks quickly before slouching into one of the couch. Luke was very close to his brothers, they were always hanging together,Jack and Luke were almost like twins actually Jack was the only one who could really manage Luke's IED, known as 'intermittent explosive disorder'.
During the blonde's childhood, the crisis were rare, but after his puberty, they became uncontrollable except for Jack, weirdly he always managed to found the right words to calm his little brother's behaviour. So they grew closer and closer after that, they would always spend hours talking together about life and Jack was the first one to know that Luke was gay. Luke even lived with him for a while, when Jack's girlfriend left him, he was a mess so Luke moved in for a few months, taking care of his older brother like he took care of him. When he was sad and crying himself to sleep Luke was there, cuddled next to him and soothing him the best he could.
Yeah, Jack and Luke's relationship was special.
"So, for mom's gift, we thought that we could buy a trip to Hawaii for her and dad!" Ben said, handing a brochure to Luke.
"What about the cruise?" Luke frowned. "I thought we were buying the Caribbean cruise?"
"Yeah, but Jack and I think the trip is better." Ben said typing on his laptop.
"Cause I don't think mom will enjoy being stuck on a boat for a week." Jack added.
Luke frowned more, he didn't understand why they wanted to change the gift, a cruise was perfectly fine and Liz wouldn't 'feel stuck on a boat' with all the planned stops. He breathed deeply, trying not to burst out of anger he really hated how they changed everything without a warning, but apparently he had no choice.
"You should have told me!" He said.
"Luke we're telling you now, it's not a big deal." Ben said.
"Yes, yes it is, I thought everything was planned and now you-Fuck I can't believe you guys made this behind my back!" He said, his voice getting louder.
"C'mon Luke don't act like a kid, we didn't 'made that behind your back'." Ben said. "We just thought about it and it seems better, deal with it."
"Act like a kid?" Luke stood up. "So I act like a kid now?" He screamed pointing at his brother. "Don't fucking tell me that Ben you-"
"Luke eh eh it's okay you need to brea-" Jack said calmly, trying to prevent what was coming.
"Why am I even here?" He laughed fakely, his blood boiling. "Why do you need my opinion when clearly it doesn't count as much as yours huh?" He clenched his fists shut, feeling the anger and the pressure in his chest. "I'm so tired of you both, thinking you can do whatever you want without me." He yelled and Lenny ran softly to hide behind the sofa, that lil dog hated the screams.
Jack stood up and he walked to Luke, he pressed both of his palms on his shoulders and he tried to cool him down. Luke tried to show him but Jack's hands were like locked on his shoulders.
"We're sorry Luke, you're right we should've asked you about this." Jack rubbed Luke's shoulders calmly. "It's okay breathe." He said smiling softly.
"No!" Luke shoved Jack's arms and said through gritted teeth."I'm so tired of being kept away from the important decisions, I'm not a kid anymore!"
"Lukey you're-"
"No! I fucking hate you!" He said to Jack.
Jack's face dropped and he tried to catch Luke's arms but the blonde stormed out of the living room.
Angrily he rushed out of the house while Jack was calling him but he didn't care. He slammed the door and jumped into his car, screaming and hitting the steering wheel fiercely. He needed to calm down but he had not taken his pills this morning and so it was harder than usual to keep control of his emotions. But it wasn't his fault. Luke hated his pills, they were disgusting and he wasn't fond of the effect they had, sure they were helping for his anger but still, Luke hated them and he didn't need a reason anyway.
Suddenly his phone rang and Luke frowned when he saw Ashton's picture popping up, it wasn't the right time so he just let it rang until a voicemail appeared on the screen.
"Hi Lukey, so I'm at Calum's with Mike, we're playing videos games and you're not here so we were wondering where you left off." Ashton giggled into the voicemail and Luke smiled softly, feeling the anger disappear bit by bit. "So call me back yeah? Bye."
Luke sighed while hanging up and he drove to Calum's, cursing against the damn rain and the slippery roads.
