"Jack?" Luke said sheepishly while the older Hemmings was scrolling on his cellphone.
"Hm?" He said not looking at Luke.
"You'll love me forever right?" The seventeen years old asked, his heart tightening in his chest.
"Ew who ever said that I loved you?"
Jack chuckled, waiting for Luke to hit him or to giggle back but he didn't. He was too nervous for that. Jack locked his phone and he looked at his little brother curled on the sofa.
"Hey what's wrong munchkin?" He asked frowning at the sight of a sad Luke. The blonde didn't answer, instead he wiped his cheeks softly. "Luke." Jack patted his knee. "Of course I'll love you forever..." He giggled. "Even if you rob a bank or if you kill mum! I'll love you forever."
Luke nodded.
"Tell me what's wrong." The older raised an eyebrow.
Luke sighed, he had to talk now.
He closed his eyes and he said quickly.
"I'm gay." He gasped when he realised that he was out now.
"Jesus you scared me." Jack giggled a hand on his heart. "I thought you got a girl pregnant or something."
Luke opened his eyes and he saw Jack smiling at him.
"But-"
"I don't care if you're gay Lukey." Jack scooted closer and he pressed the small boy against his chest. "I'll love you forever, I promise." He kissed the little blonde's forehead.
"Thank you." Luke said wrapping his arms around his brother. "I'll love you forever too."
"Eh but don't kill mum okay?" Jack said after a long silence, and the both of them laughed.
Luke woke up shaking and sweaty. He wiped his forehead frantically and he looked at his phone. 2 am. He stayed still on his bed for a while, remembering this moment, it seemed so far from now, even if he could remember every second of this day.
Luke got up and he grabbed random clothes.
He needed to see his brother.
The blonde sneaked out of the apartment making sure not to wake Ashton because he didn't feel like explaining everything and he wanted to do that alone. He kissed Lenny's head before leaving to the cemetery.
The walk wasn't long but Luke was nervous, he didn't go there since the funeral and for some reasons he was scared.
It was pitch-dark outside so the young Hemmings made his way to the grave with the help of his flashlight. Luke thought that it was a beautiful resting place. There was a lot of flowers and a gold plating quote on the stone who tightened his heart.
"Jack Hemmings, beloved son and brother."
Luke smiled sadly and he sat criss-cross on the grass, facing the stone.
"Hey." He said softly. "Sorry I should have come sooner but I guess I've been busy." He sighed. "We cleaned your house yesterday with mum and dad, well only with dad and Ben because mum couldn't do it. You know I've never seen her like this, she's just the ghost of herself." He breathed loudly. "Dad is still mad at me for what happened to your funeral. I told him that I took the fucking pills but he won't listen to me. I can't believe he's mad at me for something that I can't control." It was silent for a while and Luke thought that maybe he was crazy for talking to someone who wasn't even here. "Like you know I understand that he's ashamed of me for breaking down during the funeral but it's not my fault, I'm doing my best I promise... but I-I've broken down a lot since you're... g-gone."
Luke felt bad, he felt like he wasn't trying enough, maybe he should try more to fight his anger, maybe his dad was right and he was just a shame for the family and a freak.
"I bet you're wondering how's Lenny." He chucked. "He's with me now don't worry... I wish I could tell him where you are because he's waiting for you. You know what, h-he sleeps with that old shirt that smells like you and I just wish he could understand that you didn't left him for no reasons."
He pressed his knees against his chest, wrapping his arms around while resting his head on the top of his hands.
He sighed loudly.
Life sucks.
"You remember when I told you I was gay?" The blonde closed his eyes, the wind was slowly brushing his skin and he was cold. "I remember... I was so nervous" He sighed. "But as always you said the right things." He said. "Ashton asked me out." He had a sheepish smile on his face while talking about the older boy. "And I said yes, I really like him but I'm sure you did know that right?"
"Of course you did." He whispered to himself, because Jack knew everything about Luke, sometimes even before Luke realizes it. "I should leave now, it's getting late and I'm freezing."
He stood up, his legs numb and feeling like cotton. Luke pressed a kiss on his fingers and he pressed his digits against Jack's name engraved into the stone. He felt better even if he was probably ridiculous.
"I'll love you forever Jack."
He glanced a few times at the stone and then he left. He was walking slowly to the principal aisle, -his heart way lighter than before- when a familiar face caught his eyes.
Ashton.
The brunette was sat on the same bench than the other day, he was wrapped in a jacket with the hood on his beautiful curls. Luke frowned, he didn't understand why he was here but then Ashton smiled and he walked to Luke with a small blanket.
"I heard you leaving and I just wanted to make sure you were okay." He said when they were close enough to talk. "And I guessed you would appreciate this." He unfolded the blanket.
"Thank you." Luke said shyly when Ashton wrapped the blanket around his shoulders.
"You're welcome." Ashton smiled and he rubbed Luke's arms, trying to make the younger boy warmer. Luke just smiled like a fool, he had a weird feeling in his stomach and he couldn't stop his lips from smiling, hurting his cheeks.
"Are you okay?" Ashton asked while they were walking to the car.
"I am now." Luke whispered, intertwining their hands shyly.
-im sorry it was kind of a filler but oh well-
