She was back in the small room to be questioned. Maya has a feeling she will be seeing these blue walls very often. Jake wanted to go with her but she told him to stay where he is and that she will be back.
"Do you know why you're here?" James asks.
"Yes."
He raises his eyebrows with a straight face.
"You think I had something to do with her death."
"Her? Why can't you just say her name?" He questions.
Maya leans forward.
"Ciara...Ciara Jones. You happy?"
He sighs. "Do you think this is funny?"
"No, I wasn't laughing."
"What can you tell me about this?"
He turns the white piece of paper around. It was a picture of Maya standing in front of Ciara's door.
She leans her elbows on the table and touches her forehead with both hands. What could she say to that?
"A little strange isn't it? Trying to peek through a dead girl's hole. I mean, unless you went there thinking you left something behind." James crosses him arms.
Maya sits up straight.
"I went there because I was just desperate to know what happened to her."
"Don't give me that bullshit." He scoffs.
"YOU know what happened and you went there because YOU was afraid we would find something to lead you to this murder."
"Well did you find anything?!" She shouts.
"A piece of paper with 'I hate Maya' written on it isn't proof that I did anything OKAY."
"It gives you a motive." He says.
"I didn't even know her, how many times do I have to tell you!"
"You can say whatever you want Anderson but we will get to the bottom of this, do you understand?" He glares at her.
"And I hope you do because I want the answers too."
She spent over 2 hours in the station being interrogated by James. She is just about to ring Jake outside of the police station when she hears car keys jingle. She looks up to see a 6ft tall guy leaning against a white BMW 1 series. She can't see him properly but she can see that he is wearing a white Nike hoodie. He walks towards her and now she gets a clear view of him. He has light messy brown hair and dark brown eyes. He has olive coloured skin and a right black eye. A couple of seconds go by and he doesn't say a word to her.
"Erm you here to complain about that bruise?" She asks.
He doesn't answer her question. Instead he says,
"Why are you here?"
"It's none of your business."
She looks down at her phone to ring Jake for a ride when the black eyed boy says,
"Maya... you're prettier that I expected."
Maya looks up in shock. She is a little freaked and the wisest thing to do would be to walk away but she can't seem to move.
"How do you know me?" She utters.
"Doesn't the whole town know your name by now?"
Maya's cheeks become red from embarrassment.
"Do you need a ride home?" He asks.
"No. I don't even know you." She walks away.
"Mr Jones! Good to see you, come in."
Maya turns around to see a police officer and the black eyed boy head into the station.
Jones...
That name sounds familiar.
