It's been a week since Mary recieved her mother's message.
Alice wasn't the best mother ever, but still her mother. Alice grown up without a father, her older brother Mathew died when she was 15 years old, and her mother, Christal Cambre, was only 17 when she was born.
Mathew died fighting for his country only 2 months afther he was deployed. When Christal saw the military car stop on their driveway she knew her son was long gone. Since that day, Alice became responsible for her mother's well being. Christal no longer ate, sleeped or did anything else. She became a ghost of herself. 2 years later Christal succumbed to depression and committed suicide while Alice was working as an waitress in a coffee shop two blocks from her house.
After 4 years of working in the coffee shop she met Jack Ericson, son of a coal mine worker but a construction worker himself. 18 months later she found herself pregnant of David, her older son. After that, they, Alice and Jack decided to get married and buy a house for their family. Years later Mary was born after she discovered Jack had another daughter 6 months older than Mary.
A month and half after they found themselves settling in Boston for a new beginning.
Everything seemed to be working fine between them. David and Mary were doing ok at school, Jack had a good job and she was loving the life in Boston after she opened a washing-house.
Their lives changed one day when Jack came furious through the front door looking for Mary. Apparently a neighbor had said to him that Mary was a lesbian, that her daughter saw Mary confess it to the rest of the school, and she didn't want "Mary affecting her daughter with her illness". Jack as a religious man that condemned such behavior and decided to question his daughter about it. After Mary got home hell broke lose and she found herself without her daughter and a very angry husband that swore of his soul that he wasn´t Mary's father.
Since then Jack started coming home more then drunk and always used her as his punching bag, throwing the fault of her daughter's "choice" as an excuse for it.
Since David was no longer living with them he only knew about what was happening when he came home in holidays.
When he came home to find his father throwing his mother against the kitchen wall he decided to stop Jack from doing anything worst. Next morning he confessed that he was gay too and he wanted to live his life without a heavy conscience so he would find his sister and try to reconcile.
Jack didn't take it so well and started to try to put some scence in him by hitting him almost leaving him unconscious. But this time Alice got herself between them by knocking Jack of with a chair, making him stumble to the floor and gaining David some time after his beating.
Jack came after her but David threw him against the front door and pinned him there calling for Alice to call 911 and end their hell on earth once and for all.
That is how she found herself today trying to have her daughter again in her life, free from her ex- husband and building a new relationship with Sebastian Mauri, an old friend of hers.
