Chapter 2

SAM

Evan
Hey Sam.

I read the notification on my locked phone as I grabbed the keys from my jacket, both my arms busy with grocery bags. I opened up the door, dropped the bags on the floor, and turned around to lock the door. Once I had, I picked them back up and took them to the kitchen, where I put them away. Then I slammed open the door on my left, entered the living room, and jumped over the couch.

I felt my muscles relax the moment they touched the comfiness of it. I opened my phone and replied to Evan's text. I gave him my number a couple of days ago.
We had hit it off, he was really cool.
I wasn't really expecting anything else, he seemed nice from the very beginning.
That original awkwardness was wearing off. Slowly, but surely.

Can I ask you something?

You
Yeah, sure.

I decided to go to bed and watch some Netflix. I got to my room, laid back on a couple of pillows making sure my back was comfortable, and grabbed the remote from my floor. I turned the tv on and opened Netflix. I lowered a couple of lines down to the Continue Watching For Sam and clicked on Teen Wolf.
A still motion of Scott, Liam, Mason, and Cory gathered in a circle showed up on the screen with a charging circle in the middle counting down the numbers to a hundred. A few seconds after the scene started, my phone vibrated and I opened it.

So, I really like Julie and I wanted to ask her to be my official girlfriend. Do you think she'll say yes?

My stomach twirled in a tricky doubt.
I wasn't sure if Julie was really there yet, but I didn't want to discourage him.
I knew how much of a bump these things can be, so I figured a pity lie couldn't hurt.

I want it to be really special.

My eyes glowed over how cute that was.
I mean, I like Evan and he's a really nice guy. He really cared about Julie, you don't have to ask to figure that out.
But the troublesome unease was still dancing inside me.
I should want them to be together. That's what best friends do, we are happy when our friends find love.

Yeah, totally.
What do you have in mind?

I thought maybe if I could embarrass myself to do so, it would show how much I like her.
Plus, she would love it, you know?

Singing her a song in front of everyone, and then kneeling on my knees, maybe...
I'll think about it and let you know.

Okk.

I left my phone aside but then curiosity invaded me.
I picked it back up and placed my thumb on the menu, unlocking it.

Are you in love with her??

I resumed Teen Wolf as I waited for Evan to answer.
Almost half an episode later, my phone beeped.

Evan
Idk.
Yeah.

I smiled.
See? Happy.
