Niall's POV
The only reason I agreed to sit with Kaela is because I wanted to be somewhat nice to her.. Nothing too personal. Plus, I wanted to prove that Bailie and I weren't dating.. I knew she didn't like me so I thought that maybe it'd be easier for her if I somewhat ignored her unless it was important.
She doesn't deserve a mean guy like me anyway.. She seems innocent.. I like it. But she doesn't like me. And that's a problem.
I had my arm around Kaela, trying to get out of whatever rumor there was going on about me. Although, I could feel another one emerging.
We walked in taking seats near all of the populars. I tried to fit in. A few insults were thrown around and a few jokes were made about me, but I dealt with it.
"So you're from Ireland?" I hear one of the girls ask me.
"Yeah, I am." I answer, uncomfortable.
"That's hot." I hear her say.
I slightly nod my head, looking over at where Bailie and a couple of her friends were sitting. They were chatting. I honestly wish I was with them. Or anyone else, to get out of this mess.
I look back over to where I was sitting and catch Kaela snarling over at the girl who asked me the question. I felt some heat between them but I kept my mouth shut until Kaela asked me a question as well.
"So you're from Ireland? Do ya like it here? I mean, I'm sure you like it a lot better, huh." She says.
"It's okay.. I wouldn't say I like it better.. I do miss my home town.." I answer.
"Oh," she says, and traces her finger over one of my arm tattoos. "I like this one. What does it mean?" She says, biting her lip. I could tell she was trying to flirt. I kinda liked it but at the same time felt wrong.
"Uh," I scratched my head. "Personal.. It-its nothing, really." I say, faking a smile.
"Oh. Okay," She says, getting a little closer to me. "I like your piercings as well.. You're a very hot guy, Horan." She continues on, still biting her lip.
"Uh, thanks." I say, slightly blushing.
.....
I walked to science after 5th hour was over. Ive just been really looking forward to science.. Honestly, to just talk to Bailie. She actually seemed to be the only normal person here.
I walk in, seeing that pretty much everyone was already with their partners in the lab, while the teacher was in her own little world behind her desk.
I walk in, smiling at Bailie, who just looked away. I felt a bit of confidence leave myself as she peered in another direction. I don't know why, but I wanted to impress her.
I sit down in the open stool that was next to her, "Hey, Bailie.." I say, trying to smile again.
"Hi.." I see her look up at me and back down at her paper.
"So, I saw you looking at me again today.." I begin.
I see her face becoming red in an embarrassed way.
"Sorry." She says quickly and begins to write something down.
"No, it's okay. I found it cute." I say, with a little confidence in myself.
I see her look up at me with a frown on her face.
"Oh."
I was confused as to why she was frowning but I changed the subject anyway.
"I was looking up a few things last night about this project.. I found some things that might help out. Here." I say, pulling out a couple papers out of my binder.
"I'm impressed.. You were actually doing something useful with your time instead of wasting it by flirting with everyone, huh?"
"Uh, I guess.. But I-"
"No, it's fine. You researched it so whatever." She said. I was honestly kind of hurt by her words. Like she was mad at me or something. And it pained me knowing that she thought That all I did was flirt in my free time. She made me sound irresponsible..
I was quiet for the rest of the hour, trying not to say anything hurtful.
.....
We went to study hall and gym and didn't say a word to each other. I was kind of surprised about how mad she seemed.
I decided to be the bigger person and ask her if she'd like to come over to work on the project again.
"No.. I almost got grounded yesterday because of what I did, not telling my parents about where I was and everything.. I can't. Sorry." She answers. And with that, she shut her locker and left, making me speechless in the middle of the hallway.
