You checked out of the hotel you stayed at for the night. Smiling at the receptionist, who seemed to be in her early thirties, as you gave her the key card and she hands you the receipt. You pay for the overnight stay then thanked her.

"Gomabseubnida. Jal jinaeda gabnida.*"

You bowed at her and she does the same, responding to you in Korean. You grabbed your luggage and walked out of the nice hotel, pulling out your phone to try and call your dad to tell him that you made it to Korea so he can go on his lame honeymoon with his 3rd new wife. You dialed your dad's phone number which you remember by memory.

You detested the fact that you memorized his number since you didn't want anything to do with him. He was the reason why you came to Korea. He was the reason why you had to fly out and watch your dear grandma. Not that it bothered you. You missed her so much and it was going to be a wonderful time just you and her.

"Yeoboseyo?*"

You hear your dad's voice. You swallow down your anger and take in a small deep breath before speaking.

"I'm here now. You can do what you do best and enjoy your time with a new family."

"Ji Eun?"

The way he says your name annoys you even the slightest. It was if he had never heard of you before.

"Let's just cut to the chase. I'm not going to greet or even meet your new family. I'm only here for halmeoni remember?"

There was silence between the two.

"Anyway, I'm on my way to halmeoni's place-"

"Aniya ddal*, you have your own apartment just near the haeundae district."

This surprises you greatly as you stand by the curb. A taxi honks as it spots you, turning to their right to park right beside. you. You were confused to why your dad had you not stay with your grandma as you told him months before that if you were to go, you would stay at her place because you felt at home with her.

"Haeundae? But halmeoni's house isn't that far from Incheon. Why can't I stay with her?"

The fact that you wouldn't be staying with your grandma had made you a little upset and you wanted to rant at your dad if he had anything to do with it. Which he might have since he was a manipulative person.

"It was your grandmother's idea, ddal. She figured you might want your privacy since you're 22 years old now. "

With this, your shoulders slump but not for long. The taxi driver honks and rolls down his window, waving for you to hurry up. You grab your luggage and throw it into the trunk, then get into the car.

"Where to?"

"Tell him you're going to Gyun-Shin Apartments, Haeundae District."

You reluctantly nod your head and tell the driver the address. The driver who seemed to be in his warly 30's, nods his head and starts driving off.

"All you have to do is go to the front desk and tell them your name."

"Alright. Well thanks for telling me. Bye now."

You cut off your dad before he got to tell you something else. You sat in the backseat, watching as the buildings become small blurs. You were excited to be in Seoul, and also happy to be here with your granmda. What upset you though was that you couldn't bring your mom or your little sister. At the thought of your sister, you remembered what she said to you last night.
