Ch. 10

"Any plans on dating that handsome friend of yours?"

Your halmeoni whispers as you wash the green onions in the sink. You give her a pleading look and then motion to Jimin who was busy cutting up the chicken breast just behind the both of you. She gives a warming laugh and then puts a hand on your shoulder. Leaning closer towards you.

"He's a really helpful person, Ji Eun. It'd be a waste if you don't ask him."

"Grandma, you just met him 5 days ago. And we're not going to get into that topic."

You remind her. You hoped that Jimin didn't hear the conversation between you and your grandma. If he did, you'd die of embarrassment.

"Jimin."

"Yes halmeoni?"

"Grandma, no."

You whisper as you finished washing the onions. Your grandma gives you a smile before you look over at him and then walk over to place the green onions and begin cutting them.

"You've been such a great help to me. You and Ji Eun, the both of you are such a blessing. Thank you for helping me around the house when Ji Eun is out getting some things. The water runs perfectly and the flowers I get are beautiful."

A warm and endearing smile curls your grandma's lips and your heart melts as she pulls the both of you in a hug. Despite almost embarrassing you with Jimin and teasing you about him, you were thankful for a loving and welcoming grandma like her.

"And thank you Ji Eun. For coming out to help me around the house and keep me company while your abeoji is away."

"It's fine halmeoni. I enjoy spending time with you."

Jimin gives you a warm smile and then begins to add the diced chicken breast into the pot. You return a smile and then grab the carton of chicken broth from the fridge and poured it into the cooking pot. Jimin washes his hands and wiped them. His eyes on the cutlery and some vegetables.

"Oh don't worry about it," your halmeoni assures. "I can get these done myself. Why don't you and Ji Eun stop by and give Chu Young these? She owns a cart and sells dalgona* just next to this restaurant."

She reveals a small basket of freshly baked cookies and muffins. With a note written on it and a little dried yet preserved flower stuck to the note.

"Oh wow. These smell good and look fantastic!"

"You're still sending Chu Young a basket of muffins?

You ask your halmeoni. Surprised she still kept her old tradition since you were 18. She nods her head and smiles.

"Chu Young is an endearing person. She's stopped by occasionally and gives me macarons, scented candles or sometimes books. I want to do the same for her."

Jimin takes the basket with both hands and bows. You stood to the side and smiled at how close your halmeoni and Chu Young have become after 4 years. Never did you expect her to still do the same thing she does after you left. He brings you out of your trance as he tugs on your shirt and signals for you to follow.

"We'll be sure to give these to her."

You say and then bid your halmeoni farewell as you and Jimin put your jackets on and head out. The sun high above the sky and in your guys' face.

"We should have a thing like that as well." He says with a cheery smile. "I can give you my address and you give me yours."

You look at him perplexed.
