You entered the hotel you would be staying at for the night. You were glad to have landed in Seoul the same day you left New York but you were so exhausted from the flight. You remembered that you would call your sister but you were too tired to even pick up the phone.

You sauntered towards your bed, falling into it as soon as you were close enough. The soft cushions from the bed made your body feel like you were laying on top of a cloud. Your heavy eyes slowly shutting. You haven't felt this exhausted since that sleepover you and Aaliyah had 4 months ago when you both were going to have a K-Drama marathon with her friends and your used to be boyfriend.

As you were nearing the edge of beautiful sleep, your phone rang and you could hear the loud ring just beside your head. You opened your eyes immediately and jerked your body towards the left. You groaned and checked to see who was calling you.

"Can't you let me sleep in peace? It's like 5 AM here."

You whine as you slide the green answer button to the right.

"What is it Aaliyah?"

"You landed safely! Yay! How's Seoul? Did you see grandma? Is she there with you? How is-"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down Aaliyah. I just got to my hotel."

You hear your sister chuckle while you try and keep your eyes open. You prayed your sister wouldn't try to keep you up with never ending questions she always asked.

"What time is it for you anyway? 11?"

"Uh, it's about 11:22 AM, Thursday. Is it late for you sis?"

You nod your head and tell her it was a Friday but you couldn't go anywhere since all you wanted was to just rest up.

"Tomorrow, BLACKPINK will perform and have a fan sign event. Please go to their concert and take photos for me. Pleease?"

"I will, calm down. Can I please get some sleep now? That 14 hour ride sure got the best of me, and that was the longest I've ever stayed up on a jet. That nap didn't even help me."

You yawn and close your eyes, lost in the comfort and warmth of the bed and your sweater. Your sister laughs and then stops when she hears a loud bang coming from downstairs. Your sleepiness fades almost instantly and you sit upright, tentative and curious what it was that made that sound.

You hear Aaliyah sigh and shut her bedroom door. Mom's boyfriend. You thought and then groaned as you massaged your temples.

"It's Marcus. God, why does he always have to come to mom's place all drunk every Thursday?"

"I don't know but he's getting pretty annoying. How can mom stand him? She knows he can be a handful and he's 34 years old. We act more mature than he does."

Your mind thought about the safety of your mother and your sister. You can hear a muffled argument going on downstairs and you wished you were there to protect your family. You wondered what they were arguing about and why. You wondered if your mom was safe and okay.

You knew she could handle herself and have things under control, but this was Marcus she was dealing with. Sure Marcus was a great guy when he's sober, but he was like a whole different person under the influence. You began to bite your nails out of anxiety and nervousness for your mom.

"Aaliyah, if Marcus does anything... call the police and go to the neighbors. Understand?"

"Understood. I have the pepper spray in hand if anything gets out of control. Hold on, I'm going to check to see what they're arguing about."
