Chapter Five

It was the day of the vmas. I planned on meeting the boys before the red carpet so I could walk with Luke. I had a driver take me down to the venue and I waited with Kate for the boys to arrive. When they got out of their car, Kate instantly dragged Luke to my side. When he saw me all he could do was stare. I was quite happy with it actually. He was wearing a leather jacket with his hair done up perfectly and I couldn’t help but admire him as well

"Jojo you look amazing," Ashton said walking up to us

"Thanks Ash you all look very handsome yourselves," I smiled

I held out my hand for Luke to hold and he took it hesitantly as we walked towards the red carpet

"What’s up with you Luke?" I whispered up to him

"What? Oh nothing," he cleared his throat

When we got on the carpet all I saw was flashing lights. I could barely see ahead of me. Luke’s grip on my hand moved to my waist as if he was expecting me to fall so he was there to steady me. Half way through we seperated so he could take pictures with the band and I could take solo pictures as well. I was doing an interview on the carpet when I felt someone intertwining their fingers in mine. When I looked to my side it was Luke doing his own interview with the band right next to me and I couldn’t help but smile

"Aw folks do you see this celebrity couple right here? This is the cutest thing I’ve seen today!" The interviewer gushed making the camera man pan to Luke and I. We made it inside and I was assigned to sit next to 5sos. They were set to perform first and they played their single "She Looks So Perfect" which rocked the crowd. I stood side stage because I was set to perform right after them. They came off stage still buzzing from their performance. 5sos came out one by one off stage

"You guys were amazing!" I smiled hugging all of them. I hugged Luke last which seemed to be the longest. His sweat was rubbing all over me and I could tell that my makeup artist was gonna kill me if he smudged some off. He let go and placed his hands on either side of my face and in an instant his lips were on mine. It felt so different. I couldn’t explain the feeling but I knew I never wanted it to end. I felt a flash of a camera and then my name being called which broke my trance

"Now welcome Josie Castano!" The host yelled through the microphone. I was pulled out of Luke’s grip then pushed onto stage which I took on gracefully. I was still flushed from the kiss and I couldn’t help but smile as the crowd cheered me on. My performance earned a standing ovation and I was close to tears from the sight of it. When I got off stage, I was flooded with hugs and congratulations but all I wanted was to see Luke. I wanted to have that feeling back on my lips again.  

I rushed back to my seat in the audience to find the four seats that 5sos occupied were empty. I sighed and decided to wait for them to come back but by the time the show ended they still never came back. Kate dragged me to an after party for more photos and repeatedly called Luke to no avail for the couple photos that the paps were begging for. I entered the party and was on my way to grab a drink when someone stopped me

"Josie!" Calum said catching my attention

"Cal? Where were you guys?"

"We got caught up backstage and decided to just finish the show back there. Luke didn’t have the guts to talk to you after… You know," he said

"I actually really wanted to talk to him about it, do you know where he is?" I asked

"Yeah yeah the last time I saw him was over-" Calum said pointing to a corner of the club but stopped once he saw what was happening. Luke was sitting in a booth with his arm draped around another girl who was basically on his lap

"Oh," I breathed

"Shit Jo, I didn’t know he’d be like that just let me talk to him for a sec I’m sure he’s just a little drunk right now," Calum said trying to make me feel better

"It’s fine cal, we’re not really dating i don’t care just make sure no one takes any pictures alright?" I said keeping a straight face

He nodded sadly

"I’m really tired so I’m gonna head home but tell the others I said goodbye yeah?" I asked giving him a hug

"I will Josie, I’ll see ya tomorrow?" He smiled

"Have a good time tonight Cal," I said avoiding his question. I took one last glance at Luke and the other girl and found him staring at me. I shook my head thinking to myself how stupid I was for actually liking him. I had no idea what I’d make of everything tomorrow but right now all I wanted was to forget about tonight.
