The next morning, I woke up with a very sore back and achy joints. Sleeping on the couch wasn't the best idea.
I get up and stretch, and effectively crack some of my joints, which relieved a lot of pressure.I checked my phone to see that it's 8am, which is a relatively normal time for me to wake up. I've always been an early riser since I was young, which David always made fun of me for.
Looking over, I see David still sound asleep, with his signature red blanket pulled up under his chin. I smile at how young he looks right now, and I head to the kitchen with my laptop.
Grabbing a water from the fridge, I sit at the counter and start planning more for his house. I'm hoping to at least get some beds today, so we don't have to sleep on those awful couches for another night. They're miserable, to say the least.
I call different places to see if they have the furniture I wanted, and luckily, between the different places, I could get everything today. Will it all be together today? Absolutely not. I'm a wimp.
I arrange plans for everything to be delivered, and I find out that everything should be here between noon and 3 today. Which is perfect because I don't have to wake David up just yet to kick him out.
I pull out my phone and decide to call Shawn since I haven't talked to him since I landed yesterday.
"Hello?" His voice comes through the phone."Hey babe," I smile.
"How was your flight?" He answers, and I see David stir in his sleep, so I go to his backyard so he doesn't wake up.
As I get out there, I notice how great his view is. This life isn't fair."It was good. I got in around noon," I say slowly walking around his backyard.
He cuts the call short randomly after a little while, which I find weird since we usually talk for a while. But he said he had to go to work, so we hung up and I decided to sit down on one of David's lounge chairs outside.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath, as a thought comes through my head. Why did David pay for my flight to come all the way out here to decorate his house? He easily could've hired someone, who does this professionally and would make it look a million times better, for about the same price since he said he's paying me as well.
I'm interrupted from my thoughts as someone sits down next to me in a lawn chair.
I look over to see David sitting there with his blanket wrapped loosely around him.
"Good morning," I say and he slightly nods with a yawn. His bedhead makes it very apparent that he just woke up."Did I wake you up?" I ask.
"No the couches aren't the most comfortable so it's kind of hard to get a full night of sleep," He says staring at what I'm guessing are the trees.
"Yeah I don't think my back was too happy with me this morning," I say chuckling slightly.
"Sorry," He smiles at me apologetically.
"All of the furniture is being delivered today. So you may be kicked out for the night," I say and he perks up slightly.
"That's totally fine. I wasn't expecting it to be this fast honestly. I'm ready for a real bed," He says and I nod in understanding.
"When do I lose my home?" He asks and I tell him that they're supposed to come around noon at the earliest.
He helps me with color schemes for his bedroom and the living room, so when I go later to purchase pillows and blankets and so forth I'll know what to look for and what he actually wants.
We sit out there for a while, talking and enjoying the view. We lose track of time and suddenly it's after noon, and I hear a doorbell ring.
"Fuck," I exclaim jumping up to get to the front door before David, who is laughing at my reaction, especially since I almost tripped.
"You need to leave now," I demand, and he throws his arms up and starts heading to his gate in the backyard to leave that way.
"See you tomorrow Nat!" He yells."Don't peak in the truck," I yell back, and he throws his arm up dismissing me, and I already know he was rolling his eyes at me.
The movers start moving the stuff into each room, and after they leave, I squeal in excitement for how good it's going to look.
I realize there's no way I'm going to move the furniture by myself, so I call Liza to see if she could help me. Especially since she knows how David is now more than I do, so she'll be able to help me with decorations and everything.
"Hey Liza it's Natalie," I say as she answers."Oh hey Natalie what's up?" She says in her usual cheerful tone.
"So all of David's furniture just arrived at his house. And since I kicked him out, I need help with decorating and moving furniture. Are you interested in helping?" I ask, and there's no hesitation in her answer.
"Of course I love decorating! I'll head over now," We hang up and I decide to quickly shower before she gets here since that's something that hasn't happened yet and I'm gross.
A few minutes after I get out of the shower, I hear the front door open and hear her call out my name.
I go out to see her looking at all the furniture, and when she sees me, she greets me with a hug.
"This furniture is sick he's going to love this," She says, making me relieved that my choices weren't horrible."Do you think its too much?" I ask and she starts shaking her head.
"Absolutely not. Plus, he has plenty of money to pay for all of this, so have fun with it and go all out," She says, and I can't help but feel excited to shop for decorations.
"Let's decorate this house," I say and she squeals in agreement as we take on this project of decorating the house of the pickiest guy I know.
