It's been about 2 weeks now that I've been working for David, and it's been going pretty smoothly. He asks me to do the weirdest things, like pick him up Chipotle and get him sour gummy worms. He still is a kid at heart, that's for sure.
Shawn and I have made up as well. He called me a few days after our fight, and we both agreed we were being selfish. He wasn't the happiest that I'm staying in LA, but he understood and didn't put up too much of a fight.
I've officially moved into my bedroom as well, and I'm happy with how minimal and simple it looks. I'm planning on making a trip back to Chicago to get what else I may need, but David says he wants to go as well, and so we're planning on heading back today. As long as we can find a plane this late.
I head out to the living room to see David on his computer.
"So I found a flight that leaves in a couple of hours," He says, still looking at the screen.
I nod and sit down on the couch next to him, to look at the flight."Do your parents know you're coming home?" I ask and he shakes his head.
"I was going to surprise them," He smiles at me.
"What about you?" He asks.
"My parents know. Shawn doesn't though. I was going to text him once I knew the plan," I admit and he nods.
"You should surprise him," He says, I know for the purpose of his vlog. For some reason, he loves surprising people in his vlogs. For the next couple of hours, I hang out and then pack, and before I know it, it's time for the flight.
Jason drops us off at the airport, and before I know it, we're off to Chicago.
I'm having a sense of deja vu during the flight, as I'm having similar thoughts as on my way to LA.
Now that I've seen David, he really hasn't changed, which is a good thing. You would expect with fame, new friends, a new city and all around just a new life, it would change a person at least in the slightest. But really, he's the exact same.
Which is relieving. It reminds me of high school and how easy it really was compared to life now. Plus it reminds me of the memories that I will have forever.
As we land, I look over and see that David's waking up from a slumber, that I so desperately wish I could do.
He literally could fall asleep in the middle of a concert, it's insane.I couldn't fall asleep really anywhere, especially airplanes since I hate them.
I text my parents that we've landed, and I see a familiar face waiting to pick David and I up.
"Ilya?" I say as I run up to give him a hug. He was another very close friend of David and I all throughout school, but I haven't seen him in forever due to school."Natalie long time no see," He jokes, letting go as I get a look at him. He looks the exact same as the last time I saw him.
David and Ilya do their weird man hug, and we start venturing out to Ilya's car."So who are we surprising first?" Ilya asks, as I take the back seat in his car.
"My parents?" David asked, looking back at me for approval, at which I nod. I mean he hasn't seen his family for far longer than I've seen my family and Shawn. We pull up to David's house, and all of my childhood memories come flooding back. This has been David's house forever, and I spent so many days in this house that his family quickly became my family. I wouldn't even knock, and I'd go to hang out with his family even if David wasn't home. I even went over on Christmas to do presents with his family.
So long story short, his family loves me.~flashback~
"Natalie you have to ask David to the dance," My friend Kaleigh says as we walk out of cheer practice.
"Why? Neither of us like each other like that," I say, putting my pom poms in my gym locker."First of all, his mom is urging you to. And second of all, it doesn't have to be a relationship type of thing. Just go as friends!" She pleads. I think she wants me to have a date to the homecoming dance than I do.
"Well then shouldn't he ask me?" I ask, simply because its usually guys that ask girls to the dances.
"You know he's only going to go if he gets asked," She says, which is true. David said the only way he'd ever go to a dance is if he gets asked by someone he'd actually want to go with.
"Fine," I give in, which I've learned quickly that's something I do far too much.
I headed over to David's straight from that and walked in to see his mom cooking dinner."Oh hey, Natalie. You coming for dinner?" She asks
"No, I'm actually here to ask David to homecoming," I say sitting at the kitchen table watching her cook. I'm hoping for her to give me ideas on how to do it.
"Oh my gosh thank god," She murmurs to herself, however, I hear her perfectly causing me to chuckle."Is he home?" I ask and she shakes her head.
"He should be soon though," She says wiping her hands on the dish towel next to her.Toby comes into the kitchen and immediately comes over to give me a hug.
"Hey Tobster what's up?" I say as he peaks in the pot that is currently cooking something on the stove.
"I'm hungry," He says as if I should be doing something about it."Dinner should be ready soon," His mom says and he runs off into the living room to watch tv.
I decide to head up to David's room and think about how funny it'd be to hide behind his door and scare him, since its always something he does with me.
As I hear his footsteps, I jump out from behind the door, and laugh when he jumps.
"Got you," I say in a fit of laughter."I didn't know you were here," He says, trying to change the topic.
"Yeah I just got here a few minutes ago," I say sitting down on his bed.
"So what's up?" He asks.
"Did you want to go to the homecoming dance with me?" I ask and he shrugs."Sure why not,"
"Cool,"
~flashback over~If that doesn't explain David and my friendship, I don't know what will. As we walk into David's house, I see his mom in the kitchen, as always, cooking. She looks over, and just about faints from shock."David?"
