Chapter 13: Little Beaver Dams

Natsuki's POV:

   Yuri had just stared at me, her eyes wide and glistening, her expression unreadable. Then she began to cry, her shoulders shook and she buried her face in her hands, her hair tumbled around her face and I didn't even think twice as I closed the distance between us and wrapped her in my arms.

   "How can you say that? You of all people should want me dead." Her voice is small and muffled and it breaks my heart.

   "How can you honestly say that to me? I wasn't the one who broke up with you Yuri..." I whispered and she sniffed looking down at me with those teary brilliant violet colored eyes. "I never stopped lov-"

  "AUNT YURI, AUNT NATSUKI!!!!! We're going to eat the cupcakes we made!" Benny or whichever called out and I cursed, Yuri sniffed rubbing away her tears with her sleeve as she looked up at the snow.
   "N-nat-ss-su-kki I...I never meant for-"
   "AUNT YURI AUNT NATSUKI!!! You guys outside?" They called out again and I could kill them. Yuri smiled sadly at me and reached down kissing my cheek.

  "We're coming darlings." She called starting away from me. I was frozen in place, because God I still loved her. I'd always loved her. I mean you can't stop loving your soul mate now can you?

  I finally shook off the shock that came from our little moment and grumbled bitterly at how close we'd come and I shuffled inside. Rosie nearly tackled me in a hug.
   "Natsuki (only she pronounced it like Naassukki) I love your cupcakes thanks." She beamed and I smirked, she was cute but dammit I was this close to getting Yuri and finding out why.

Why she left me? Why she didn't want me? Why she had ignored my phone calls and texts? Why had she just thrown everything we had away like it was nothing? Why why why why why why why why why why why?

   I shuffled into the kitchen, Rosie on my hip. She leaned in and whispered in my ear, just as I was about to approach Yuri and the boys.
  "Did you and Yuri kiss?" I nearly choked on air and dropped her as I stumbled.
   "None of your business shrimp!" I exasperated, because first they Beaver dam me with Yuri then they ask for details, no friggin way, plus she was four and all... And Monika would kill me.

   "No fair!" She pouted and I rolled my eyes at the pouty look she was giving me. "Aunty Yuri hugs!" She pulled away from me, opening and closing her grubby little mitts in Yuri's direction. Yuri stood from the table and took the toddler from my hands.

  "What's the matter little one?" She whispered softly and she beamed at the attention.
   "Natsuki won't watch a movie with me." She lied pouting, was the little worm covering for me?
  "Really Natsuki, I'm sure she'd love to watch it." She cooed without even asking me she started for the living room, the little monkeys following behind her.

  "Come on Natsuki!" One of the twins exclaimed and I rolled my eyes. No frickin way was I watching some kids movie.
   "Pass." I deadpanned picking up a cupcake and munching on it bored like.

  "Come on Suki we're waiting." Yuri called and I was mush in minutes. Woman up Natsuki. I chiasted myself.
   "I'm good thanks." I exclaimed and Yuri rolled her eyes. Before I could blink she was leaning close to me, our faces inches apart.
   "That wasn't a suggestion Suki." Her tone is low and sultry and I have to lick my lips because my mouth feels dry all of a sudden. Her hand cups my cheek and she leans in ever closer, our breaths are almost combined.

   "What are you suggesting then?" I whisper and she smiles clearly amused by her own antics.
   "Aunt Yuri can we watch snow White?" Rosie asks and just as quickly as Yuri was there she was gone, leaving nothing but coldness in her wake.
   "Of course we can sweetheart." She scoops Rosie up, where she stands in the kitchen doorway holding a Snow White DVD.

  "Damn kids." I grumbled crossing my arms.
   "Suki?" Yuri calls.
  "Coming " I grumble starting for the couch, slightly in a worse mood.
