Alan's POV

I walked close to Wendy as we went into the church together. I'd been coming with her regularly now even if Jack didn't want me to, but this was the only thing I wanted. I mostly came here to talk to Vic. He was really nice to me and he seemed to care a little about me. He always talked to me like I was just a normal person and I hated to admit it but he was so ridiculously adorable.

"How you feeling?" Wendy asked. "You haven't had anything today right?"

I nodded, "I haven't in a couple days. I don't feel very good though."

"Well you don't need to get any."

"I know that."

"Are you excited to see Vic?" She asked, wiggling her eyebrows.

I shrugged, "I guess."

"He's cute, you know. Really sweet, has his own house," she said.

"That's cool," I said wiping my hands on my jeans.

"He's got two jobs so you know he makes bank," she told me, elbowing my ribs. "And I think he might like you."

"What?"

"He totally likes you."

"Wendy, he's a pastor he's so straight it's crazy."

"Barely," She said as we took a seat, "Have you seen the way he walks? I think he likes you."

"He doesn't."

"You don't know that."

"I do know."

"He totally likes you Alan, he asks about you every time I see him."

"He's probably just being friendly."

"I don't think so."

"He is," I said before we went quiet as the service started. I was a little restless in my seat the whole time. I hated being sober, absolutely hated it.

"Be still." Wendy hissed. I looked over to her and rolled my eyes. I was trying, but it was hard. I let out a sigh and just looked around the sanctuary, then at Vic himself.  He was really cute and nice, but I doubt I even had a chance if he was gay. I was so ugly and a whore and a drug addict. He was so perfect, and I mean, for fuck sake, he was a pastor.  I had no chance on anything like that. My life was ruined. I rubbed my nose and let out a sigh, I didn't even get why I kept coming to this.

I wasn't gaining anything from being here and everyone here looked at me like a freak too. When the service ended I looked at Wendy.

"I don't think I'm going to come anymore, I don't get anything from this."

"What?" She said, "Please keep coming. It keeps you out of trouble and gets you away from Jack for a few hours every time you come with me."

"I don't even believe in any of this stuff."

"So? Come on," She told me as we stood up, "How about you go talk to Vic and I'm gonna run and help a few ladies who actually like me with a few things, okay?"

I sighed before I walked off and leaned against a wall. I didn't wanna talk to anyone right now.  I refrained from letting out a groan when I saw Vic walk up to me.

"Hi," He said smiling at me.

"Hi," I said looking down at the ground.

"You okay?" He asked.

I nodded and look at him, "I'm good."

"You wanna go talk? I have an office here and Wendy can come get you when she's done helping out."
