Alan's POV
Fifteen Years Later
"We have to go get the kids from school soon," I said walking up behind Vic as he sat in his desk chair. We were currently at the shelter together just finishing up some of the books for the next month.
"I know," he said with a tired sigh as he ran his fingers through his hair. "We gotta get some grants or funding soon, Ash, between paying for kids life at home and getting the bare necessities here, my job's barely making ends meet."
"I know baby and we'll find something. We're always looking."
"I know," he said. "Come on, let's go get our brats."
"Let's go," I said leaning down and pressing a quick kiss to his cheek.
Vic smiled and took my hand in his as we headed out to the car. We both go in a quickly headed to the school where all four of our kids were Vic had managed to convince me to have more after our first two after countless talks. And by talks, it was mainly just Vic whining and pouting until I caved in.
I didn't mind having the four, it was a lot though. I loved them all though and I wouldn't trade any of them for the world.
"Dad!" Our youngest son, Theo, shouted as soon as he saw me and started running to the car.
"Hey buddy," I said scooping him up when he got to me.
"I missed you!" He said, hugging me tight.
"I missed you too, but it's Friday so we can hang out all weekend!"
"We can!" He shouted. "I made a picture for you and Mama."
"Awesome, when we get home you can show us and we'll put it up on the fridge, okay?"
Theo smiled, "Okay!"
"Now let's get you in your booster seat and you can tell me about your day."
The little boy nodded. I got him fastened in and helped his siblings into the car as well.
"I lost a tooth!" Maddy shouted, showing Vic her tooth.
"Ew," he said, looking at the tiny thing. "It's still bloody."
"Well I bet if you put that under your pillow tonight the Tooth Fairy will come and give you money," I told her.
"How much money?" She asked.
"I don't know."
"Better be more than five dollars," she mumbled.
"I don't know, you'll have to find out if she comes out tonight."
"Fine," she said. I smiled and looked back at our two other kids.
"How was school for you two?" I asked.
"It was alright," Nina said with as shrug.
"How about you, Aiden?" I asked, looking at our oldest son.
"Fine," He said.
"Just fine?" Vic asked.
"Yeah, just fine."
"Well, what did you do at school?"
"School stuff."
"Like?"
"Like school, why does it matter?"
"Because we want to know about your life," I told our moody preteen.
