Third person point of view.

It's been three days since Gelli collapsed Gerdin has not left her side the entire time accept on two occasions to see Uncle Elrond. Or to pee. Where as Thorin has only left her side once which was to arrange a meeting at which Elrond tried to read the Map but had to postpone it for a week as the moon was not right. For the last three moon Gerdin has fallen asleep on Thorin's lap on the wooden oak chair next to Gelli's side after a story. The Company have filled their spare time visiting Gelli or wrecking a part of Rivendale.

Gelli's point of view

The same words repeated over and over in my head "I'm Sorry." Every time i tried to open my eyes i'm met with a glance from my pass. The blackness of begging for death. just wanting it to stop. it all to stop. The pain. The whips. The continual whips. The noise. Oh the noise. The blood. the metallic taste. The constant screams. A voice i know. my mothers screams each time the whip hits her as a result of my actions. My neck, wrists and ankles are chained preventing me from moving. stopping from helping her. from protecting her. Torture through the ones i love.

As her screams ricochet through the darkness. The pain increases. blinding light replaces the darkness. My breathing slows and my body thrusts forwards commanding my muscles to work. Causing me to sit up. As elves rush to my side. silhouette escaping the room. My mind focuses on the present. Here i am, in the healing rooms of the palace. the healing rooms of Rivendale.

"For a moment there i thought you'd given up." Elrond's voice brakes the silence. causing my body to calm.

"Thorin, where is Throin, and Gerdin, where is my brother" Where the only words that could leave my mouth. Elrond slowly stood walking to the door as the healers left the room. As Elrond's figure left the room leaving me on my own, another figure wider and bulkier entered. As It approached my eyes deciphered it to be Thorin, instinctively my arm reached out in a fable attempt to reach him. His soft worn hand engulfed my own his other arm laying the sleeping Gerdin on to the bed next to me as he took to the old oak rocking chair next to me. Are hands still holding on to each other.

"I heard you. I heard it all" i barely whisper but loud enough for Throin to hear and him alone.

"And i meant all of it." was his reply as he lent forward slowly placing his lips on the back of my hand. "every last word." As he placed his other hand in mine he deposited a small box. intrigued i move my hands from his grasp as i inspected the small box.

The dark blue box was small enough to sit on the palm of my hand, scruffy child's writing scribbled on the top. A promise. Was all it said.

A i lifted back the lid i was graced by the shine of a plain silver ring, with the inscription. always and forever. on the inside.

" A promise that if you'll have me after this is all over will do what we planned all those years ago. I Thorin son of Thrain have loved you from the day we met and i will continue to love you my one for eternity. Will you marry me?" His rich proud voice broke the silence.

As he asked i shake my head in disbelief. "This is how i imagined it to be. Well not in these circumstances, but with you, and you alone my one. Of course i will." was all i could must the strength to say.

His hands removed the ring from the box as he placed it on my finger. kissing the ring for good luck. In one quick movement Thorin had picked Gerdin laying him on his lap as Thorin moved so he could lay on the bed next to me. so i could curl into him resting my head in the crook of his neck.

That night i dreamed of what he promise in Erebor.

Dream: third person point of view.

She lay with him on the hill surrounding Erebor. Her head on his stomach. He lay with one arm stretched securely across her stomach while his other rested behind his head his eye lids lay closed. The two a perfect picture of happiness, contentment, relaxation and companionship. The young dwarf prince was the first to brake the comfortable silence.

"What was it your parents wanted earlier."

"They wanted to talk about what i want in life." she replied openly.

"what do you want in life. honestly" he questioned with intrigue.

As he spoke she scrunched her eyes in dread at what he would think of her answer. "Honestly. All i want is to have my one for eternity. my one to share in the fruits of our labour. To have a place to call home and to create life. And being honest i already know who my one is.

The confusion, pain and rejection etched on his face. She had never spoken to him about her one or the identity of her one. Revelation caused him to abruptly sit up. He always thought that she was his one. The only thing he wanted to know was "WHO" he hissed it as he struggled to stay carm at the new revelation.

Shocked by the anger in his reaction she sat up and whispered in his ear. As she did the pain removed from his face and was replaced with the look of love. " i promise for eternity. Only if you let me look after you and protect you my one." was all he could say. At his words she placed her lips on his with a matter of urgency passing between the two.

End of dream.
