"Roman!" Logan yelled as we walked into the kitchen. Patton looked over at us from his book and glanced at our hands. I let go of Roman's hand as Logan came running up to hug him. The awkward anxious look on Roman's face was so cute I burst out laughing, causing him to glare at me. I walked over to the table sitting across from Patton and saw him glance up at me from his book. I smiled awkwardly and he just rolled his eyes. We must not like each other much. It makes sense though. Logan and Roman are always on each others case but still. I don't like having Patton, not like me.
"Um... Logan can you please..." I saw Logan's face go from happy, to confused, to guilty so fast I got whiplash. Logan let go and rushed Roman over to the table beside me to eat. I could see the confusion on his face. He hadn't left his room until I got him. He didn't know about the others. "Hello, Patton."
"Salutations, Roman. I hope Virgil didn't cause you any trouble this morning." Roman's eyes went wide as Pat spoke so... well different. Patton didn't even look up from his book. Which of course upset Logan.
"Actually, he was a big help." He looked over at me and smiled. I knew that was just a mask. I could see his hand shaking, however slight it was. It was his first anxiety attack and it was not a good one at all.
"Big help? With what kiddo?" Roman looked over at me completely weirded out by the roll change. I just shrugged and took a sip of my orange juice.
"Roman was having an anxiety attack. Something that usually happens when I... er, he wakes up too early. To much time... too many thoughts... to easy to fall... too scared to ask for help. It's like the world is screaming at you. You can't even make yourself get out of bed until someones knocking at your door and at that point you've already lost. Your just heightened nerves to strung up to make it through the day. Which of course makes you more anxious that you're just going to snap at someone... or cause Thomas issues." I stared at the ripples in the juice as I spoke, memories of all those mornings I would have hiding under my blanket. I shook myself from my thoughts and placed my glass down. "Anyway, what's the plan for today, I have a few ideas I want to run past Thomas. I don't want to wake him up though if he had a... long... day. What?" Everyone was staring at me with worry and shock. Even Roman who looked really uncomfortable. "Was it something I said?"
"Are you ok, kiddo?"
"He came to my room earlier this morning. He didn't look alright to me, maybe he's coming down with something?" Patton called out over his book, and Logan practically fell out of his chair, running over to me. He placed the back of his hand onto my forehead and I rolled my eyes, pushing his hand away.
"I am not sick. Just because I came over to your room this morning doesn't mean that I'm ill." Patton slowly placed his book down on the table and Logan awkwardly backed up. Even Roman knew something was going on. Of course, he's been in arguments with Logan before.
"I believe I stated, you did not look well. I did not say you were ill because you came over. However, that alone makes me question your judgment at the moment. Do you really think you should be giving Thomas any ideas if your decision making is impaired." I saw Roman's jaw drop. Our Logan never said anything remotely close to that to him ever. He was always aware of Roman's role for Thomas. But Patton never hesitated to slam that into my face.
"Your kidding right? Logics got a complaint. How typical. Why don't crawl back into that book you love so much, and STAY OFF MY ASS!" Once again I was coving my mouth in embarrassment at my outburst towards Patton. "I'm sorry. God, I don't know why I keep doing that!"
"It's the whole passionate thing we got. When people question us it hurts our pride and we get angry. Hense all the lash outs." Roman quickly started shoving food into his mouth, trying to hide the fact that he said anything at all.
"Well, I hate it." Roman's eyes lit up and he looked over at me with a smirk. This can't be good. "Roman, what are you thinking?"
"Say, Virgil..." Uh oh... Why do I feel like Roman's going to do something very stupid? "What would you do if I told Thomas not to do anything today." Patton's eyes went wide and Logan looked like he was about to cut in. It was obvious that he was trying to get a rise out of me. Why though?
"I'd say you're being ridiculous. And... what did Logan say, oh right. You're being confrontational."
"When did I say that?" I choked down some of my pancakes. I glanced up at Logan and smiled awkwardly.
"Uh... I meant... Logic. Yeah, Logic said that. Anyway, what's your point, Roman."
"I'm just saying that maybe not doing anything at all would be a nice change. Instead of causing him stress and just risking it." I could feel my anger start to bubble up as I gripped my fork. The entire time Roman was smirking. "We could even watch those ridiculous Disney movies. You know the one with the stupid Princes and the lack of consent."
"Are you shitting me right now?!" I jumped up from the table yelling, causing Roman to flinch at the sudden noise. "You're pulling the lack of consent thing with me? ME?! It was to break a curse! And Disney movies are not ridiculous. They are amazing and if you even think about keeping Thomas from doing anything today, I will lose it."
"And the roles have reversed." Roman said as he turned back to his breakfast, secretly gripping his shirt as he tried to steady his breathing.
I slowly sat back at the table and just stared at my plate. The other's were trying very hard to act like none of that had happened. I glanced over at Roman and watched as his eyes closed and his hands started shaking worse. What was the point of that? You just made it worse for yourself.
"I'm not hungry." I got up and started walking away when I heard someone get up and follow me out. I ignored them all the way until I got to my room. That's when I felt them push me through the door, locking it behind them. I looked up to find Patton standing there giving me this look of utter seriousness. "What was that for?"
