To say that I was shocked was an understatement. I didn't know what to do or say! His family ended up leaving right after he said this, so he had to leave. I walked in the house and my mother was watching me with a small smirk while my dad was glaring at the floor. "So... how was your talk with Liam?" my mother asked. "Umm..." I stuttered. I was at a loss for words, obviously, and my mother smiled wider at this fact. "No," said my dad after glaring holes into the floor for most of our short conversation. "You are my baby girl and you're not allowed to date. You'd be grown then and I'm not ready for that." He said. My mother later told him how he can't completely control me at this point and how the song was her idea in the first place. My father continued to explain his discomfort at his only daughter starting to date. My mother wasn't having any of it. This went on for the whole drive home, and then some.
After an hour of them going back and forth, Dad finally allowed it. I finally tried to go to sleep, but realized that I couldn't. He was stuck in my head, the way he looked at me, every single instance he tried to talk to me vs how he spoke to his friends. How he acted just barely nervous but could've played it off as something else. I noticed how he stayed so close to me and the slight distance between him and his friends, especially when he tried to get some space between him and Cindy. I started to over-analyze every single instance that we looked at each other and how he acted. After a couple of hours of this, I decided to finally try to get a drink and walk around.
I finally got a drink of water and shivered from the cold liquid running down my throat and the cold breeze lingering in the house taking away the heat from my comfortable bed. I finally started towards my room when I noticed that there was a light on in the house. Apparently, it was my older brother talking on the phone with his girlfriend. After I noticed this, I decided to listen in on his conversation for a small second. "Baby, I know. I'm so sorry, you shouldn't have to go through this... I know... we will get through this, I will help you. I will always be here for you.... I love you, too." I decided to leave him be, since this seemed to be an emotional, and probably supposed to be private, conversation.
I went to bed and played to some soft music to try and lull me to sleep. I listened and pictured being with Liam, not thinking about our conversation before he left. I pictured that he was holding me, trying to help me sleep as we both listened to the soft music. I finally was swept away to my beautiful slumber.
I heard music in a green meadow with thousands of daisies and small flowers, It looked really pure and untouched by humans. I saw an abundance of trees just an about half a mile from where I was standing. Judging from the nice breeze, the weather felt like Spring or a nice Summer day. Each "sleeve" was only two thin straps and the dress itself ended to my upper to mid-thigh. The dress stayed close to my bust and the middle of my ribcage but became flowy after that. It was a simple design (Picture). I had a feeling that I needed to look behind me, but it wasn't for anything bad.
I turned and saw Liam in the meadow with me. He was wearing a nice solid colored, short sleeve shirt and a pair of slightly worn jeans. He smiled as I saw him standing and watching me sway to the music. As he walks towards me, I see this happy glint in his eyes and the smile cover his complete face. He glowed with pure joy at seeing me. I smiled back at him, and I feel a hop in my step as I walk towards him. I have my arms slightly open to him, wanting to be held in his warm embrace. He holds his arms open too and waits for me. I started to sprint towards him, and he braced himself. I jumped and he twirled me around with my legs wrapped around his waist and arms around his neck. I felt weightless in his arms, like a feather... I was his feather.
We grinned as I put my forehead on his, he slowed down and eventually stopped spinning. I stared into his beautiful hazel eyes as he stared into my blue-green ones. I swear that I melted just the slightest as I saw the love and adoration in his eyes. I put my hands on his cheeks, noticing he had just a slight touch of scruff and I stared at him as if I were memorizing every detail... Which, in a way, I was. I sighed contentedly. Then, the music started to climax into a darker tone. I grew slightly confused as I saw the wonderful light that was in his eyes noticeably dim away. He carefully set me down and looked just over my shoulder. I was trying to ask him what it was, but I couldn't speak. I started to turn around and see but something held me back...
I woke up to my alarm going off and realized it was a school day. I thought nothing of my dream until later in the day. I got dressed in casual wear today and woke up my brothers. Today was just like any other day, but Liam stayed around me a bit more than he did before. During lunch, he even offered to give me a ride somewhere, since it was starting to get cold. I politely refused saying that my friend was waiting on me, but offered for tomorrow as a possibility. I kept finding Cindy, too. She was always staring at me or glaring my way. She would storm off when she noticed him around me and talking, but would still interrupt sometimes.
As we spoke together, we would talk about many things. One of them being the Christmas parade that our town had. I told him how I was going to be marching up front since I was both an upperclassman and a flute. He explained to me that he was going to be on a float behind us, since he was part of the sports organization. I asked about things going on in his life. And as the days went by, we got to know each other much more, and get a lot closer.
Of course, when I told Tootsie about how Liam actually liked me, she blew a gasket! She asked what my response was and, after I told her, was furious at me for not asking him out immediately. Then she chewed me out for not telling her sooner. I was on her probation for about a week before she had something to tell me. She always found out about the latest gossip of people in our life and told me. She always had some idea of what was happening, and heard a bit of Liam's "weird actions" with being around someone with a lower rank than him in the popularity ranks, AKA me. I just kind of laughed at her and shrugged.
One day while I was talking to Tootsie the following week, Liam came up to us saying that he wanted to talk to me. He brought me to his car and started to say what was on his chest. "Um, I know that we haven't really been talking a lot... or maybe even close to being considered friends by society's standards... but, umm..." he stuttered as he spoke. His hands were wrapping around themselves and he kept running one hand through his hair every now and then... "Umm... Rose... would you like to... go on a date with me sometime?"
