I started to walk around by myself since I needed space and Liam needed to go to work. I became so lost in the multitude of thoughts and my self pity that I never saw the car. I heard someone scream "Look Out!" and raised my head. I noticed that it was Cindy's new car, and her in it while looking like a mess. I jumped with seconds to spare and rolled, barely dodging the speeding car. I saw her break lights turn on, but she skid and didn't stop in time. She rammed front first into the light pole. Shattered glass flew everywhere, Cindy was leaning out of her car and over her steering wheel. She had blood flowing from her head and she wasn't moving. All I heard was ringing and muffled voices. I slowly got up, stumbling as I tried, and walked toward the car. "Cindy?" I called her name, but got no response. I smelled gasoline after a minute and I knew that she needed to get out of that car NOW. I tried to walk closer and closer to her car and tried to keep my blurring vision on Cindy, somehow willing myself to get her to safety. As I reached her car, the ringing finally stopped and I attempted to pick her up. She seemed to weigh almost nothing, but I couldn't carry her bridal style, so I propped her head against my stomach and carried her under her arms. I got her to the grassy section after the parking lot and my head started to spin. Then my vision turned black.
I woke back up to consistent beeping and my head throbbing. I tried to open my eyes, but I closed them right back from the bright lights. I heard a click and someone say "sorry, I'll turn them off." I slowly opened my eyes again and noticed a dramatic difference between the throbbing in my head from then and now. I try to speak, but I can only manage a whisper. I ask for some water and I find Liam in the room bending over backwards for my needs. For a solid moment, I forget what happened. Once I get my drink, I ask Liam what happened. "You were nearly in a car accident, You and Cinderella were hurt, but she got the brunt of the force. Her car was totalled and you dragged her out of the car. You ended up getting a bad concussion and passed out for almost three days, it was a large possibility that you would've had amnesia." His voice cracked a little and I saw the worry in his eyes. "How is Cindy?" I ask him. He pauses before he answers, "She... is in a coma. She hit her head so hard and her body put her into a coma to try to help her heal. It's probable that she went into shock and shut down." My jaw drops tears prick my eyes as I hear the news.
The fact that I recently found out that she was in love with Liam and had been kicked out of her popular group, she lost everything. I guess she was crying on her way home and lost control. I was lucky enough to not get hurt too badly. I feel like this is partially my fault. If I hadn't indirectly ruined her beloved lifestyle, she would still have her best so called "friends," she would still be at the top of the food chain, and she wouldn't be in a coma right now, either. "Can I go see her?" I ask Liam. An unknown voice comes into the room and says, "Not right now, we need to examine you a bit further. If nothing goes wrong within a couple of days, I will release you." It was the doctor speaking, with my parents right behind him looking relieved. "Oh my god, honey are you okay!" I flinch at her volume and the sudden change of the lights being turned back on. "Ow," I mumble, "I feel fine Mom, just a migraine." The doctor briefly examined me and said that my vitals were stable, but I should get some rest.
After a couple of days of awful hospital food, vital signs, and worried eyes, I was released. After I was checked out, I went home and got changed to something more comfortable. I ate some real food and followed the doctor's orders of taking it easy until school on Thursday morning. Liam came by at around 4:30, after school ended on Wednesday and brought me some flowers, in courtesy of Mrs. Burns and himself, and spent some time with me explaining the school events that passed. I calmed down when he was around me and I would feel peaceful, if it weren't for the lingering pressure in my chest of guilt.
After I enter the school building, I got thousands upon thousands of statements like "are you okay?", "How are you feeling?", etc. I would go to my classes in order to get all the work that I've missed and much more, since the life of a high school student isn't easy. I tried to dismiss most of everyone and stick with my true friend, Tootsie. She came up to me and helped steer me away from ¾ of the people nearby. When lunch came around, Liam offered to drive us anywhere. We got food from a fast-food restaurant and went to the special haven that the wolves are all the time. My wolves jumped on me and expressed their worry and love for me, since I haven't been able to see them for almost a week. I sat down and pet each of them on their heads and basked in the sunlight. "How you feeling Rose?" asked Liam. "I guess I'm alright. my head is fine, I haven't run into anything, and my heart is still beating. A lot of people asked me the same questions all day, though" I told him. He kind of sighed and gave me a hug.
I felt someone watching me as I stayed in my spot and listened to the nature around us, waiting for my alarm saying when we needed to leave. I then started to hear the Ella Enchanted cover of "Somebody to Love" with Anne Hathaway. I look for who turned it on and it was Tootsie, she said, "I know you love this version, so I figured you'd want to listen to it at some point." As we sang to the song and had fun, we heard my alarm. "Guess it's time to go then, huh?" Liam stated. We then went on about our merry way, going to the one place full of question, headache and... math.
