"Dear, I am so sorry. That darned Cinderella should learn to not play with everyone's heart like this. One of those boys could be her boss in 15 years, you know." said Mrs. Burns. I agree with her idea of Cindy and continue to water the plants. She believes in Soulmates and "love at first glance," too. That's what she had with Mr. Luke Burns, as she tells me. She always says that as soon as she saw him, she knew he was the one that she wanted to marry one day. I love hearing her stories while we work, since it kind of feeds the romantic in me sometimes. "Are you going to water that one lilly until the world ends?" said Sherry with a smile tugging at her lips, knowing that I was thinking something about romance or nature. "Sorry Mrs - uh, Sherry." I say as I shy away from the poor flower a little. "How about some music?" She asks me.
Mrs. Burns turns on some instrumentals of some songs that she likes and plays it as she makes some hot chocolate for the both of us. "Tell me, honey." She said. I took a drink from the hot chocolate and started to feel dreary of the long, emotional day I had. "Well, I spoke to Liam today, but Cindy is all over him." I started. She gave me a look of pity and listened to everything that happened. "And he said that she wasn't the one he wanted! I'm never gonna be able to get my happy ending." I told her. "Not with that mindset, you won't," she said, "what was your plan for the halloween costume thing?" I told her the idea of the soulmate thing, and I how I had planned on talking to him starting with Tootsie. "Interesting... " she said. Her face said that she was plotting something, but I wouldn't know with her what was going on in that wise brain of hers. As she was about to say something, we heard the chime of the bell. "Welcome to Sherry's Flower Shop! How may I help you?" I said out of habit before I saw the customer. "Oh, hey Rose, I'm just here to get some flowers for my mom." said a familiar voice. Of course it would be Liam right now. I can't let my emotions interfere with Mrs. Burns' work. "Alright, do you have a specific flower in mind?" I asked him. He said he didn't and didn't know what type of flower to get her. So I asked him if his mom was allergic to any certain flower, to which he replied no. "What is her favorite color?" I asked him, it was getting harder and harder to concentrate and to treat him like a regular customer. "Blue" he said. I decided to show him a Blue Rose.
No, I didn't choose it because it is a Rose, I chose it partially because it was really pretty, but also because it resembles love at first sight. And of course he is oblivious to the meaning. I pulled up the price for a dozen of the roses, $42. He gave me the money and asked if I had worked here. I told him no and that my being here was for my community service hours. "Well, when are you done for today?" he asked. I told him in maybe another hour or two.
Out of nowhere, Mrs. Burns says, "You go on ahead honey, I can keep the fort down here." I bet she was listening in on my conversation the whole time. "Are you sure, Mrs. Burns?" I asked her. She responded with "not if you call me 'Mrs. Burns' again, I told you to call me Sherry." "Sorry, Sherry." I laughed towards her. She ended up making me leave, saying she didn't need my help at the moment and signed my papers for the full time there. "I can give you a ride home, if you want?" offered Liam. I told him to drop me off at the area of the woods that we met up at instead. We both continued to his green muscle car when he tried to strike up conversation. "So, what electives do you have?" "I have band and drama." I told him. "Oh? Do you have any competition or concerts coming up?" I replied that I did and that I was ready to get 1st Division. Surprisingly, he knew what that meant. I also spoke so sure of myself and prideful that it didn't sound like me. "So what extracurriculars are you in, besides football, I mean." I asked him unsteadily. "Well, I also am in drama." he said. There are two different drama classes, junior varsity and varsity. I'm in varsity, since I seem to dive into my character so well. "Really? I didn't think you were the type." I said curiously. "No one really would think of a football player in a school play, unless they were forced." he replied quickly. "I-I didn't mean to offend you, if-f I did, I'm sorry." I started to say. He gave me a dazzling smile and said, "it's fine, I'm playing a meaner character, so sometimes I act the part without realizing it." I understood completely.
We got to his car and got in. He gave me the option of sitting in silence or playing music off of his Ipod. I quickly chose the Ipod since I am a girl of music. As I looked through it, I realized that we had very different tastes, he liked a lot of rap, I am more of a pop fan. He did have some rap songs that I knew, Eminem, Jack & Jack, and a couple other songs. I played a few songs like "Beautiful" by Bazzi and Eastside by Khalid and Halsey. We both sang out the lyrics I saw one that I did know a little and decided to play it, to see his reaction. "Don't Cry" by XXXTENTACION. He heard the song and raised an eyebrow, slightly confused from the change of pace and my song choice. As soon as the chorus started to hit, he started to sing, much lighter than before. "Don't cry, Don't go. Won't Lie. I Fucking Love you." And I kept watching his emotions. I heard his voice blend really well to the song, and I loved it. The only thing that threw me off, was his expressions while driving. He looked so sad, slightly heartbroken. At the end of the chorus, he stopped singing and gave a half smile. I guess I ruined the mood, who hurt him this badly? I just wanted to get closer to him and hold him in my arms to get rid of all the bad emotions and memories that were in his head. I wanted to be the light to make all the shadows disappear in his eyes. I don't want him to hurt, anymore.
