...I don't know if I named him something different, but Rose's older brother's name is Killian...
Every afternoon, I go to see Cindy still in her comatose state. I talk to her every day for a couple of hours, telling her the recent drama I hear, how the classes are getting stricter, how I pity her for the stack of work she would have to do, and apologizing for being the cause of all this. I explained to her how this all felt like it was my fault and I would wish that she'd get better soon. I didn't know if she could hear me for sure, I read up that if you talk to them, they might respond faster. There have been many cases that someone does hear what was said, but also many where the patient didn't hear anything. I had to try something, anything to try and get her back on her feet and okay sooner. I would catch Cindy's parents every now and then, but really no one else. She wouldn't even have flowers had I not brought some.
After I got home, my parents would greet me, ask if anything has changed, and see if there is anything I need. This has been the same process since the incident. And everyday, I would tell them the same thing, "Hello, no change, I don't need anything."
Although it was quite a nice day outside, I fell down onto my bed and closed my eyes. I'm comforted by the darkness behind my eyelids and stay like that for a moment. I hear a knock on my door and tell them to come inside my room, I open my eyes to see who it is. It was little Bay, and he has his hands behind him; this was a nervous movement that he does on occasion. "Hey Bay, what's up, buddy?" I asked him. "Hey sis, how you feeling? You're not planning on going back to the hopsital right?" He had a slight lisp and couldn't pronounce "hospital" correctly. After melting from his concern, I tell him that I don't plan on going back anytime soon, but surprises tend to happen with people. He brings his hands out from behind him and brings out the "Blue Perfect Gift" bouquet that Mrs. Burns's store has (picture). It consists of 2 lemon germini, a yellow large-headed rose, 3 yellow spray chrysanthemums and 2 purple freesia with purple statice, eucalyptus and salal arranged in a blue swirl glass vase with a light blue sisal collar. The pastel purples, deep indigos, and blue undertones were breathtaking, nonetheless. The eye-catching white in the group was just as lavishing and beautiful. This specific bouquet had to have cost about $40! "Thank you Bay, but how..." It was this moment that Killian walked into my doorway and smiled. "Thanks you guys!" Although they didn't get me the flowers while I was in the hospital, they gave them to me when I could enjoy them and that's exactly how I like it. I got up and set the flowers on my desk, then taking my brothers into a bear-hug. "I hope you like them Rosebud." Killian said in a Chris Hemsworth-like deep voice. Rosebud is his nickname for me. "I love you guys," I told them, "and I would never trade you for the world." I pulled back and punched my eldest brother in his strong shoulder while saying, "now who wants to play basketball?" I laughed as they both ran quickly to get in "athletic gear" and got ready into a pair of shorts myself.
I felt much better after playing a few rounds with my brothers, Killian versus Baelfire and I. we ran, fell, and laughed our way around the court and had a ball, figuratively and literally. As we started our way home, I felt our sibling bond rekindle. It has been so long since it was us three siblings, since Killian has a job, lives a couple of hours away from us, and I'm working on getting to college myself. It was nice to just spend some quality time with my brothers. Once we get home, I notice that my mother and father were waiting for us. "Rose, when you went to the hospital did you set yourself up as a contact for Cindy's conditions?" my father asked me with his eyebrows pulled together. I told him yes and asked why. "Apparently Cindy woke up and wanted to see you as soon as possible." My jaw fell to the floor and, after a moment of recovery, I started running to get my keys and things. Killian grabbed me and said, "Rose, I'll take you. I don't want your mind running 90 to nothing." I nodded, grateful for the gesture.
After I finally made it to the hospital, I went straight to Cinderella's room. The doctor stopped me just before entering and said, "she is really weak, so be careful to not overwhelm her if you can." I told him I understood and slowly entered her room after knocking. "Hey, how are you feeling?" I asked Cindy. "Well I feel like crap and probably look worse," she said with a weak chuckle. True to the doctor's word, she was extremely fatigued and looked as pale as the hospital walls. "Rose... I... I heard everything you said to me while I was in the coma."
